Is General Hospital’s Franco an Unlikely Hero? Fans Respond Loudly

On General Hospital, Roger Howarth’s metamorphosis as Franco has taken him all the way from serial killer to unlikely hero. Initially played by film star James Franco, GH’s Franco was the vilest of villains. The character was depicted as a murderer, possible rapist, and the man behind Michael’s (Chad Duell) vicious prison attack. When Roger Howarth assumed the role, Franco’s sick twisted indiscretions were all attributed to a brain tumor. After surgery, a new character emerged and he began a slow steady walk down redemption road. These days, he could be described as an unlikely hero. Put on the White Hat Over 3,000 votes were cast and a whopping 79% of fans believe Franco has completed what seemed like an impossible task – transforming from loathsome villain to unlikely hero. Yes, it took time, but somehow it happened. The character’s bond with and genuine concern for the troubled Jake was a major step in the process, followed by his friendship-turned-budding-romance with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). Somehow he’s become the guy you want to root for. Not Buying It A small 16% of you still view Franco the way Jason (Billy Miller) does: as a bad dude. Nothing can erase his past in your minds. You won’t ever forgive his crimes let alone actually consider him a reformed good guy. Still A Question Mark A smaller 5% of fans don’t know what to make of the new, improved Franco. Is he for real? Or is Franco somehow pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes? Either way, you’re excited to tune in to General Hospital each day to see what will happen next! GH airs weekdays on ABC.
