While Lamon Archey’s Eli Grant is plenty busy on Days of our Lives keeping wife Lani happy and eager guest Chanel at bay, the actor is also finding some love in primetime.

The actor also recurs as Principal D’Angelo Carter in the CW’s drama, All American. And judging by a recent clip released by the Instagram account for the show, his story is heating up.
“Get to know Principal Carter,” the post alongside the clip reads. “He’s full of surprises.” And if you’re not familiar with the show, the video will help you get to know Archey’s primetime character.
First introduced this season as the superintendent, his character is now interim principal at South Crenshaw High and he means business. A former student at the school himself, and one-time classmates of Corey and Billy, Carter was sent to boarding school after his freshman year due to the bullying culture of the football team.
The clip shows a bit of tension between Principal Carter and Spencer’s mom, Grace James (Karimah Westbrook), who responds to his greeting of “it’s nice to see you again,” with a punching “I don’t like to lie, so I won’t say the same.” Fans of the show know that Miss James calls it like she sees it, and fights for her family above all else.
Later in the clip, it shows Principal Carter and Grace having a “moment,” with him commenting that they’ve gone almost 24 hours without fighting. “There’s still time,” she fires back. There’s some obvious romantic tension there, but would either move forward considering what it could mean to the school and star player Spencer?
The snippet also shows what Principal Carter believes in, displaying a card reading “demanding,” and showing how he’s raising the GPA requirements for all students and offering no special treatment for anyone just because they’re on the football team.
That could mean some trouble down the line for any budding romance, as Grace surely isn’t going to let her son lose any opportunity for a scholarship and a bright future if she can help it.
