The Surprisingly Normal Thing Tyler Christopher Did on His Summer Vacation

The Surprisingly Normal Thing Tyler Christopher Did on His Summer Vacation While rumors ran wild about contract issues and drama behind Tyler Christopher’s sudden General Hospital departure, it turns out the real story is a lot more like real life and less like a soap. A Much-Needed Break Christopher announced at the GH Fan Club Weekend that he’s returning to the show this fall (likely September, but no official airdate yet), but admitted that he just needed a well-deserved breather from the daily grind of soaps. “In 20 years, I’ve never taken a vacation, even though you’re allowed to,” Christopher said in the August 29 issue of ABC Soaps in Depth. “I was getting overwhelmed.” So, during his break, Christopher did what many dads do and hung out around the house and spent time with his kids–Greysun, 6, and Boheme, 1. “This was my vacation,” he told In Depth. “Fixing my home and playing with my kids.” He admitted the break was worth it. “I’m having a good summer, hanging out with my family. The kids enjoy seeing me home all summer.”

Guess Which Days of Our Lives Star Grew Up in the Circus!

Did you know that one of these Days of Our Lives actresses grew up in the circus? Sure it’s hard to believe these glamorous ladies, Kristian Alfonso, Judi Evans, or Nadia Bjorlin could have grown up that way, but one did indeed travel around with her family in the family business. Do you think you know which star it is? If not, read on to find out the answer. First we have… Gorgeous Kristian Alfonso grew up in Brockton, Massachusetts. As a teen, she was an above average student who excelled at dance and ice skating… but she wasn’t part of a circus. She began modeling at an early age, having adorned 30 international magazines by the age of 15. One of those magazines was seen by the casting director of Next we have… Beautiful Judi Evans, was born and raised in California. But she did indeed spend her childhood traveling with the family circus as the “baby clown.” While she did that, her parents were trapeze artists and her three older brothers juggled and handled props. After that, she hit daytime gold playing her Emmy winning role as Beth Raines on Guiding Light. Finally we have… Nadia Bjorlin was one of six children born to world renowned Swedish Maestro Ulf Bjorlin and his Persian wife, Fary. She began her life in Newport, Rhode Island but the family soon moved to her father’s native Sweden. Her father’s career fed her love of music and she became an accomplished opera singer. She started singing professionally by the age of eight. As crazy as the music world may be, she did not grow up in the circus.

Peter Reckell’s Career Comes Full Circle in The Fantastiks

Try to remember that first time you saw Bo Brady in his leather and on his motorcycle in 1983. Then, try to imagine the ultimate Days of Our Lives hero belting out into song on a musical theater stage. We bet you can’t and that just shows you what actor Peter Reckell can do. Music Man In the August 22 issue of Soap Opera Digest, Reckell describes himself as a “song and dance man.” And, while it’s been 15 years since he’s exercised those vocal cords, Reckell is once again ready to take to the stage performing in the same show that got him his professional start. It’s been 35 years since the actor debuted in the musical sensation, The Fantastiks, and now Reckell is headed to New York for a three-week engagement this fall. When Reckell found his original script from the show, his past started flooding back. Back to the Beginning “It’s kind of like going back to where I started and I feel kind and good,” Reckell told Digest. “At first I was scared, but just two days ago, I was singing through the music and I finally was like, ‘Oh okay. I am going to be able to do this.'” The actor was pleased to learn how many DAYS fans already have tickets for the show and loves that they can finally see him playing someone other than Bo Brady, the role he left behind last year. While he made a brief return as Bo’s spirit this summer, Reckell can’t see him returning to the role again–at least for now. Family Man He describes his brief appearance last fall as a means for Hope (Kristian Alfonso) to move on, but he’s enjoying family life way too much to enter back into the daily soap grind again. “I can’t miss any more of my daughter’s life,” Reckell told Digest. “She’s just a joy and I can’t get enough of her.” DAYS airs weekdays on NBC. Yes, the possibility of malaria hangs over them, but they choose to be optimistic about adding to their family rather than worrying. The Moment of Truth Speaking of family health problems, Monica (Leslie Charleson) delivers some surprising news to Carly (Laura Wright) and Jax (Ingo Rademacher) about Josslyn’s kidney donor. She decides to use this tension to her advantage and involve Dillon (Robert Palmer Watkins) in her scheme. Being a fine and upstanding guy, it doesn’t seem that Dillon will take the bait. However, he does want Kiki back…

Days of Our Lives Has Its Own Gold Medal Winners

The Olympics may have forced Days of Our Lives off the air for two weeks, but the show has its own stars who are gold-medal worthy. Sure, it may not have been in any event you saw, but they took home gold nonetheless. The Skater Kristian Alfonso (Hope) was once a dancer and ice skater, excelling in both categories. When she was only 13 years old, she won the gold medal in figure skating at the Junior Olympics. She may have gone far but a devastating sledding accident ended both her skating and dancing careers. She turned to modeling and found herself on the cover of 30 international magazines. It wasn’t long before she was spotted by a casting director for Days of Our Lives. The Opera Singer Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe) studied music from a very young age. Her father was a world famous conductor/composer and fostered her love of music. In 1996, she competed in an international vocal competition in Verona, Italy. It’s there where she won the gold medal. The Actress Patrika Darbo (Nancy) appeared in the play, Daddy’s Dyin’…Who’s Got the Will? When they decided to do a film version, she got to re-create her same role in the film version. She received a Golden Cane Award at the 10th International Comedy Festival in Vevey, Switzerland. Related New Movie Touts Several Days of Our Lives Stars! Honorable Mention The Daytime Emmy is gold as well, and Days of Our Lives has a few winners in its current cast. Mary Beth Evans (Kayla) won for Outstanding Lead Actress in 2016. Freddie Smith (Sonny) won in 2015 for Outstanding Younger Actor. And, in 2014, Eric Martsolf (Brady) won for Outstanding Supporting Actor. DAYS airs weekdays on NBC. Frank Valentini Dishes GH and a Possible Luke Return

Pink Java recently caught up with General Hospital boss Frank Valentini at the Summer TV Critics Press Tour where the busy exec took some time to chat with us about what’s going on in Port Charles. While there’s no update yet on when Finola Hughes (Anna) and Tyler Christopher (Nikolas) will return, Valentini did talk about Kristina’s coming out tale, Sonny and Ava, and the possibility of seeing a familiar face back in Port Charles. Read on to get the scoop! Soaps tell stories at a breakneck speed but the tale of Kristina figuring out her sexuality is being told slowly, which is great because all the beats are being played. Why was she the character chosen for a story like this? I think this was the right character to do this with because there needed to be an explanation as to why Kristina was making such bad choices in the men she was with. To some extent, she was forcing herself to be with somebody to sort of taper down all the questions as to who and what she’s attracted to. Laura and Kevin seem like an unlikely pairing on one hand, but on the other it makes perfect sense. It does make a lot of sense. It’s a very sweet story. It’s also somewhat unexpected for Laura. She and Kevin are two different people so it’s interesting to see them mix and their chemistry is fantastic. Ava and Sonny remain in a war over Avery. It shows no signs of ending. As long as that kid is in their lives, then they’re connected to one other — for better or for worse. But each of them has gotten away with murder. Sonny killed A.J. and Ava killed Connie. Should Avery be with either of them? I think there are a lot of children in this world who have very terrible parents. Ava and Sonny wrestle with their demons all the time. Avery is a chance for redemption for each of them. Will we see Hayden and her mom (Naomi) have ties to some familiar names in Port Charles? Yes. You’ll be very surprised to see who she’s involved with. Can you tease anything coming up this fall? Lots of big things. I’m not giving anything away, though. It’s all very good. Any names from the past coming back? Well, Jax is back now. We have that. We’re concentrating on that. We have a big cast. You’ll see Bobbie, Monica, and a lot of Lucy and a lot of Scotty [coming up]. Did we ever find out what was in that letter Luke left for Laura? No, but we will. Anthony Geary (ex-Luke) told EW.com as he was walking out the door a year ago that he’d come back for six weeks or so if the story were interesting. Is the door open for him? (Smiling) The door is always open.
