After being away in rehab for quite some time, Theo Carver is coming back to Salem. Days of our Lives has recast the role of Abe and the late Lexie’s son with actor Cameron Johnson. The actor is set to make his daytime debut later this fall.
Cameron Johnson Joins Days of our Lives
“Cameron is excited to be making his daytime drama debut on NBC’s Days of our Lives stepping into the role of Theo,” a rep for DAYS tells Soap Hub. Johnson’s other TV credits include 9-1-1, Criminal Minds, Light As A Feather, and The Mick.
Most recently, Johnson starred in the independent feature film, Star Light opposite Scout Taylor Compton. He has also appeared in the features Yes, Day, directed by Miguel Arteta and The Wrong Crush, directed by David DeCoteau. The actor grew up in Maurice, Louisiana.
In 2018, Theo moved to South Africa after surviving a gunshot wound. J.J. (Casey Moss) was chasing a man breaking into a warehouse, not knowing it was Theo (then played by Kyler Pettis) helping out the DiMeras, and mistook something he was holding to unlock the door as a gun.
J.J. fired a shot, injuring him severely. This storyline resulted in DAYS taking home Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Drama Series Writing Team, Outstanding Drama Series Directing Team, and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for James Reynolds, who plays Abe, Theo’s dad.
In addition to Pettis (who won a Daytime Emmy in 2019), other actors have played Theo over the years. They include: twins Chase and Tyler Johnson, Kavi Faquir, and Terrell Ransom, Jr. Theo was named after his late uncle Theo (Rusty Cundieff), Abe’s brother, who died before Theo was born. When Theo was 5 years old, his parents noticed he was having development problems. He was diagnosed with having autism.
