Weekly Recaps & Spoilers: July 8-12, 2024

 ThYoungng & the Restless

Recaps

We have a hunch that Neil and Dru are somewhere nodding in approval as Devon vows to protect his family’s legacy. Though Traci and Alan share a warm moment, we’re worried. Very worried.  Does Abby arrive in Paris to support Ashley? Oui. She’s only a few years behind us in this regard, but finally, Jill loses patience with Billy.

Victor plays his cards close to the vest. Which is especially sneaky of him, considering that the game he’s playing is chess? Maybe Michael figures there’s nothing he could say to Diane that would shock her. But does that make her the right person with whom he should be confiding? Reminding Nikki that that’s what friends are for probably isn’t going to cut it when she feels guilty about causing problems for Jack.

Kyle warns Jack and Diane, Billy calls Lily’s bluff, and Audra and Nate kiss. And… kaboom! Jack confronts Kyle about working with Victor. Jack may have slept with two of his dad’s wives, but at least he never allied himself with The Mustache! Though today’s the day that Chance questions Billy’s motives, that’s a smart idea pretty much every day of every week of every month of… With their relationships with Victoria and Tucker decidedly in the past tense, sparks fly between Nate and Audra.

What?!? Courtney Hope was nearly locked out of the post-Emmy party: “Come on, guys… really?”

Victor and Jack reignite their feud. And to think, it all goes back to this. Have a seat — the hot seat, Diane. How will she respond when she is held accountable for her actions? When Chelsea and Adam reminisce about their past, yohaveot wonders whether she’s going to replace Sally on this list.

Diane drops a bomb on Summer, Chelsea, and Adam struggle with guilt, and Nick and Phyllis struggle to help their daughter. Sounds to us like the spider making an offer to the fly, but Kyle must not see it that way when he agrees to a deal with Victor. They’ve come a long way since she tried to frame Rey for poisoning him! Adam and Chelsea make a pact. When in doubt, who better to call in than Mom and Dad, right? So Summer enlists Phyllis and Nick’s help.

Speaking of Summer, she’s sure to go ballistic if the twist Hayley Erin (Claire) teases comes to pass.

Next Week

It’s business as usual when Devon and Nate scheme against Billy, Victor tasks Adam with a new mission, history threatens to repeat itself for Kyle and Audra, and new colleagues Sally and Summer find themselves wondering whether this arrangement is really going to work out after all.

Restless Rant! Young & Restless has already set Sally’s revenge in motion! Plus, Sharon’s struggle, Kyle’s trainwreck, Jack vs. Victor explodes, and more!

Monday, July 8:

Victor gives Claire a history lesson. If he’d like visual aids to go with it, might we suggest he utilize our Newman family photo album?

When Danny and Cricket surprise Traci in Paris, she may have a surprise in store for them, too: her new flirtation with Alan.

Ah, it’s going to seem like old times when Phyllis and Nick disagree about how to help Summer.

Tuesday, July 9:

Never knowing when enough has been more than enough, Victor pushes Jack’s buttons.

Chelsea sends Adam on a guilt trip. Why are we so afraid that the final stop on that journey is going to be this?

Power suits Audra like a well-tailored dress. So needless to say, she relishes her new role.

Wednesday, July 10:

Perhaps aware that no one in Genoa City has ever been able to separate business and pleasure, Nate questions Audra’s decision to work with Kyle.

As Sharon is haunted by her past, we may be moving one step closer to this disturbing possibility.

Given how questionable some of his choices have been, we recommend Daniel seek a second opinion when he makes a decision about his future.

Thursday, July 11:

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Lily must have that foremost in her mind when she makes a risky decision.

As Claire struggles to fit in with her family, maybe she should have a little talk with Adam. He’d certainly know a thing or two about being the odd Newman out.

Devon and Nate plot to outsmart Billy. If we were them, we’d just dangle a boneheaded option in front of him and let nature take its course.

Friday, July 12:

Victor tasks Adam with a new assignment. Which, for these two, probably counts as father/son bonding, no?

Chelsea sets boundaries. But with whom? And will even she be able to respect them?

Welp, they managed to get along for a whole five minutes. But already, Sally has to work to make amends with Summer.

As the new addition to the Newman clan finagles to find her place in the family…

Ava leaks the recording of Natalia to the press, Nina offers her help to Drew in his bid for Congress, and Alexis quits The Invader. If there’s one thing we know about Ava, it’s that she’s not above playing dirty when necessary. And as far as she’s concerned, it’s definitely become necessary. The only question is: How low will she go?  Trina is in need of a shoulder to cry on, and Joss is there for her best gal pal. Nina hopes to come across some useful information when she does a little old-fashioned eavesdropping. Alexis is ready to make a big move. Drew and Jordan get together to share information with one another. (Anyone else kind of feel like this pair could throw some serious sparks if they wanted to?)

More: Did Ava make a big mistake with Laura?

Jonathan Jackson credits [Spoiler] with holding open the door for his comeback.

Kristina and Blaze face being canceled in the wake of The Invader’s article, and Alexis learns Ava is the source of the recording of Natalia. Just like April showers bring May flowers, Ava’s decision to play dirty yesterday has her covering her tracks today! Blaze is dealt a devastating blow. Meanwhile, Kristina and Alexis sit down for a long overdue heart-to-heart conversation, and Natalia finds herself having to face the music! When Sonny’s in a bind, who’s he going to call? No, not Ghostbusters… Diane!

Yes, please! Jonathan Jackson shares music to Lucky fans’ ears.

Her record label drops Blaze, and Kristina has words with Natalia. Will Dante be the only person who can talk some sense into Sonny? Kristina’s been keeping things bottled up, but she’s about to unleash her anger. Maxie and Brook Lynn — who’ve made a pretty good scheme team in the past — put their heads together in order to come up with a winning strategy. Trina and Josslyn are ready to make a major move — literally — as they check out their new home. Next Week

Heavilhintsnt that Cody finally reveals to Mac their family tie. What’s more, we get an epic showdown between Sonny and Ava, Portia taking decisive action, and Sasha getting an eyeful of something that she probably shouldn’t. Yeah, it’s juicy!

Monday, July 8:

Laura had to know that advocating for Esme’s murderous mother was going to ruffle some feathers. So she can’t be too shocked when she’s confronted by Portia.

Call it sort of mother/daughter bonding (since hey, they are as close as mother and daughter). Nina and Sasha have a heart-to-heart.

Is today the day at long last?!? Cody makes a confession. The way Josh Kelly was talking, we thought it would be ages more before his character revealed to Mac that they are family.

Sam is frustrated with Drew. But probably not the kind of frustrated that has been leading Nina to have hate sex with him, so no need to fret, Dante.

Willow is known to be one of Port Charles’ leveler heads. Today, though, it’s Katiewho, bar the door as she makes an impulsive move.

Wally Kurth celebrates his real-life leading lady.

Tuesday, July 9:

Trina is suspicious. Which, let’s be real, is by and large a smart way to be every second of every day in this bonkers town!

Trouble in paradise? Sounds like it since Curtis has to defend himself from Portia.

Sasha witnesses something scandalous, and all we can say is dang! Can’t wait to see it for ourselves!

Lois shares a secret with one of the few people she knows is going to be able to keep it: Olivia. Lois is right about that, isn’t she, Olivia? Olivia?

Nothing makes us happier than seeing Maxie all fired up, and today, she finds a new mission.

Wednesday, July 10:

Sonny questions Jason — perhaps as a first step toward rebuilding their horribly broken friendship? Or are we just wishful thinking?

Yup, it sure sounds like Cody spills the beans to Mac, ’cause the former and Willow find common ground. What else could it be but meeting a bio parent later in life?

We were already y hell of worried about Ava. And our concern is only going to grow as our favorite femme fatale makes a dangerous move. Plus, why are they writing Ava to make such stupid mistakes?

Loose lips sink ships, so for Michael’s sake, we hope he’s on dry land when he lets something slip to Drew.

John does some eavesdropping. Which sounds personal, right? If it was for his job as a federal agent, it would be called something like “stealthy intel-gathering” or “discreet monitoring,” wouldn’t it?

Thursday, July 11:

Sonny and Ava have been building to this moment for a while now, and here it comes, a blow-up for the ages!

Working toward the title of Girlfriend of the Year, Kristina is eager to help Blaze. Maybe she could start by buying Natalia a ticket out of town?

Maybe Cody’s confession to Mac goes as badly as he expected. Since Felicia visits her new stepson, here’s hoping that she’ll be able to bring the guys together?

Portia reveals her plan to Jordan. So at least we know one thing about said plan: Top-secret, it isn’t!

Heather’s request surprises Laura. Could it be that Brando, Ro,ry, and Britt’s killedon’t’t want her case reopened?

Friday, July 12:

Whatever Heather’s ask is, it leaves Laura seeking Trina’s perspective.

Sasha confides in Cody. Time No. 1,089 the show has gotten it right with this couple.

Portia’s not the only one doing some plotting. Anna, too, is up to something and talks her plan through with Jason.

Elizabeth shares happy news about Jake. And frankly, we’re just relieved to see the words “Elizabeth” and “happy” in the same sentence again.

Reinforcing the impression that these two are lifers, Curtis and Portia hash things out.

As Mac picks up his jaw after the reveal that Cody’s his son…
