Jack is back on Days Of Our Lives. He doesn’t remember Jennifer (Melissa Reeves). He doesn’t remember Abigail (Kate Mansi). He doesn’t remember JJ (Casey Moss). He trusts Eve (Kassie DePaiva) over anyone else, and he doesn’t remember either being a politician or a rapist. And he wants to run for mayor.
Messed Up
Are you kidding me, over 44% of you groan. Jack is a mess – even more than usual for a politician.
He doesn’t know anything about Salem, he doesn’t know anything about its needs and problems, and he doesn’t know anything about himself! Maybe Jack should work on some self-actualization before he tries to fix anything else.
Abe (James Reynolds) is the best, 39% counter. So what if his office was responsible for Xander (Paul Tefler) getting his hands on footage that kept him from being prosecuted for shooting Marlena (Deidre Hall)?
Who cares if his police commissioner is obsessed with framing Ben (Robert Scott Wilson), no matter how many laws she has to break to do it?
And then there’s the issue of no one in Salem actually working. How do they have any kind of tax base? But, it doesn’t matter, he looks good in a suit, and he should keep his position for life. Elections are for other people.
Funny Business
Then, there is the 17% of the audience who doesn’t care that Jack is brain damaged and unqualified. Jack being mayor would be hilarious.
And, isn’t that what all politics is about, in the long run? Someone to make us laugh? (Hey, it’s 2019. We got that.)
It’s not like anyone actually keeps their promises or passes law that benefit others (see Abe, above). So let’s go for the entertainment value. Insert any other politician’s name here.
Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
