Weekly Soap Spoilers: May 2-6, 2022

The Young and the Restless

Victor doles out advice, beats down an enemy and shows up for Nikki even as Adam considers sawing off his branch of the Newman family tree, and Nick offers Sharon a shoulder to cry on. In other developments, Diane asks the impossible of Kyle, and Tessa receives news that — nooo! — could leave her saying “I do… need to put off our wedding, Mariah.”

Friday, April 29:

Chelsea gets news from Chloe, Kyle comes face-to-face with Diane, Victor learns Diane’s alive, and Adam tells Sally he’s falling in love after she shares a past secret!

Victor vows to protect Nikki — and it can only be from the “reformed” Diane Jenkins. What measures will he take to safeguard his beloved wife? We’re guessing any necessary!

We can’t imagine what dish Sally will be serving when she shares a secret with Adam, but we sure hope it’s juicy! Oh, who are we kidding? If it wasn’t juicy, it wouldn’t be a secret worth sharing, now would it?

Tune-in alert! It’s sure to be a day of big emotions when Kyle reunites with his presumed-dead mother, Diane. Will he read her the riot act for shattering his life when he was just a kid, or will he simply be overjoyed that he can stand in the same room with her again?

Week of May 2:

Y&R Restless Rant! Hop topics: Young & Restless has upped the feel factor, loving confrontational Nikki, and dishing the Adam/Sharon and Adam/Sally scenes. Plus, drama ahead with Diane, Adam and the Newmans… and Ashland.

Monday, May 2:

When Victor shares words of wisdom with Abby and Chance, we have a sneaking suspicion they will be deeper than “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.” But will Dominic’s folks be able to take the tycoon’s advice to heart?

Where would Jack be without Phyllis? They’ve had their ups and downs (and downs and downs!), but when he needs her, she’s there to point him in the right direction.

This oughta be interesting! When Kyle demands answers from Diane, can she possibly make her son understand why, if she loved him so much, she left him to grow up without her?

Tuesday, May 3:

When Victor settles unfinished business with an adversary, we suspect that he’ll think he’s done once and for all with Victoria’s treacherous husband, Ashland. Or is it another foe on whom The Mustache will be lowering the boom?

After learning Sally’s secret, Adam strategizes with his girlfriend — no doubt while taking breaks now and then to canoodle!

Since Lily gives Billy an ultimatum, it would appear that the lovebirds’ relationship is at a crossroads. Will he be willing — or able — to do what his significant other asks?

Wednesday, May 4:

Poor Jack oughta just leave his jaw on the floor. First, Diane shocked the hell outta him by coming back from the dead, and now, he is floored by Ashland’s confession.

We knew that she would, but will it do her any good when Diane asks Kyle for a second chance? And how will Summer react to the fact that she suddenly has a mother-in-law when Hunter King’s replacement makes her debut?

The fact that Victor supports Nikki’s new role doesn’t sound like it’s all that big a deal — until you remember all the times that they’ve clashed over the directions in which her life has gone.

Thursday, May 5:

We called it: Sharon turns to Nick for comfort. Yes, her heart is in pieces now over Rey’s untimely demise, but this could be the first step toward the “Shick” reunion we predicted.

Uh-oh. Since Tessa receives unexpected news, will her and Mariah’s wedding wind up being postponed? Will the singer have to go back on tour again? Or wait, could it be good unexpected news?

We don’t blame Chloe a bit when she worries about Chelsea’s state of mind. Yes, it was Sharon who lost her husband when Rey died, but Chelsea, too, lost someone who had come to mean a great deal to her.

Friday, May 6:

Pigs must be flying, because today, Billy celebrates a win. Could he finally have gotten one over on former father-in-law Victor?

For what must be the zillionth time by now, Adam considers cutting family ties. He’s certainly cunning enough to make his own way in the world. But could he really give up on the idea of someday having — and maintaining — Dad’s respect and approval?

When an Abbott family meeting takes an unexpected turn, we’re going to go ahead and predict it’s because Diane decides to crash it. Probably not the best way to prove to her detractors that she’s changed, but whelp, that’s Diane for ya!

The Bold and the Beautiful

Quinn and Carter are revisiting the torrid love affair that turned both their lives upside-down (and could yet again!). On top of that, Liam is once more getting perhaps too close for comfort to Steffy, Brooke finds herself on the outside looking in at Taylor and Ridge’s intensifying bond, and Sheila’s got a gleam in her eye that we fear can only mean one thing: murder! Will Steffy manage to cheat death a third time?

Friday, April 29:

Deacon gives Sheila good reason to want Steffy dead, Bill returns, and Steffy’s reunited with Hayes.

When Bill and Liam vow to get justice for Steffy, they could be inadvertently moving themselves to the top of Sheila’s hit list. Is it too late for them to have Deacon show them some martial arts moves? Speaking of Hope’s dad…

Deacon serves up well-intentioned words of comfort to a tortured Sheila. But will they have desired effect… or only serve to further unnerve the unstable woman?

Week of May 2:

Monday, May 2:

Having escaped Sheila’s villainous attempts to shut her up permanently, Steffy is joyously reunited with her children upon being released from the hospital. That said, it’s a good bet she’ll still have to deal with her deranged mother-in-law, even on her home turf.

It’s tough to be a do-gooder all the time! Consequently, Hope has complex emotions about Liam’s role in Steffy’s recovery. Will her husband be donning his flip-flops for a trip over to his ex’s house to give her a shoulder to lean on? Wonder why that’s such a problem? Take a look at the highlights of Hope and Steffy’s rivalry through the years, which mostly surrounded their waffling mutual love interest.

Tuesday, May 3:

Given their history, it will come as a surprise to exactly no one that Brooke and Thomas have conflicting reactions when Hope attempts to rationalize Liam’s actions. Wow, perhaps we were right and Dudley Do-Right really is moving in with Steffy!

Yep, we were right — at least in part. Get ready for a serious case of déjà vu when a fragile and emotional Steffy leans on Liam for support. Wouldn’t her parents be, you know, the smarter, safer, saner choice to see her through these dark days?

Wednesday, May 4:

Boy oh boy, nothing is going Brooke’s way this week! First, she had to deal with concerns that her daughter might lose her hold on Tofu Boy, and now Steffy’s tragedy draws Ridge and Taylor closer together. How will the frustrated blonde react? Or, given her usual M.O., perhaps we should be asking who she will turn to in her time of need.

Cue the sexy music! Carter and Quinn discuss their past and what drew them to each other. We have to wonder if the deep dive will lead them to revisit temptation — especially knowing that Eric’s been eschewing his marital bed in favor of spending nights in the Forrester guesthouse.

Thursday, May 5:

It doesn’t sound like a winning strategy to us; in fact, it sounds downright dangerous. But you have to give Deacon props for even attempting to to reason with an irrational Sheila about visiting her grandson. Will he get through to his unhinged gal pal? Who are we kidding — of course he won’t.

You grab the popcorn, we’ll bring the “whine.” Cause that might be what we’re in for when Paris informs a stunned Zende that she is involved with someone else — Carter!

Friday, May 6:

We’re not gonna lie, it’s refreshing to hear that someone doesn’t think that Paris is perfect, but when Quinn makes it clear to Carter that he can do better than Zoe’s younger sister, we have to wonder if she isn’t just a wee bit jealous.

Well, this sounds ominous: Steffy senses that something is off when Sheila arrives unannounced for a visit. Is the madwoman really there to see Hayes… or is she hoping for another shot at making the baby an orphan?!?

General Hospital

Carly offers Harmony what sounds like pretty darn good advice, Chase has some explaining to do, someone comes knocking on Sonny’s door hoping for employment, Nina is in Valentin’s path again, and Willow could be in for one heck of a shock!

Week of April 25:

Monday, April 25:

Harmony turns violent after Carly figures out part of her secret, Curtis reveals he knows Marshall dealt with mental illness, and Michael disowns Sonny.

Willow has a visitor, but things take an interesting turn when Michael interrupts.

Has Marshall finally pushed things too far? It appears that way when Curtis tells him it’s too late.

When Carly pays Alexis a visit, does it have something to do with her new employee at the Metro Court, Harmony?

Brook Lynn and Chase have gotten closer, and they’ve pushed one another away. When the pendulum swings yet again, what is it that has BLQ so upset with the handsome cop this time?

Diane does what she does best! But when she makes an argument, who’ll come out the winner?

Tuesday, April 26:

Alexis winds up in danger when she stumbles upon Harmony trying to stage Carly’s death — plus, Lucy offers Liz some advice about her problem.

They say that when the going gets tough, the tough get going. But Alexis and Carly may find themselves instead having to depend on one another in a dire situation.

Dante’s questions definitely do not sit well with pop Sonny.

Michael’s made a decision and he’s determined to stand by it… but Willow’s got a few concerns about it.

After Finn and Liz have a disagreement, Lucy offers the nurse a suggestion.

Sasha arrives at exactly the right moment.

Wednesday, April 27:

Harmony desperately tries to get to Willow and Wiley, only to get caught in a dangerous situation. Plus, Sasha is ambushed by a photographer, sending her over the edge.

It’s time to celebrate Deception… but Sasha may not be in the mood to party after she finds herself being blindsided.

If you’re wondering what Austin’s intentions are toward Maxie, congrats… you’re on the same page as the blonde, who asks exactly that.

Sonny’s had quite a bit of experience with daddy issues, so he’s perhaps the perfect person to offer Curtis advice about Marshall. Meanwhile, Portia and Drew find themselves worried about how Curtis is being impacted by his father’s plans, and TJ is on the receiving end of an unexpected present from his grandfather.

How will Brando react when Nina tells him why she’s concerned about Sasha?

Thursday, April 28:

Harmony is left in critical condition after being hit by Sasha, Jordan tries to piece together what would drive Harmony to kill multiple people, and Carly keeps the information about Nina’s connection to Harmony a secret.

What horrifying discovery are Sasha and Gladys about to make?

Nikolas and Ava have had their difficulties of late, most having to do with Esme. But the couple might soon find themselves on the same page again if his romantic gesture goes as planned!

As Dante swings by the Metro Court Gardens to chat with Michael and Willow, Sam finds herself rushing to get to General Hospital.

Ruh-roh. Trina is all alone at the gallery when hears a door closing…

Friday, April 29:

Sasha tearfully confesses to Willow that she hit Harmony, leaving Willow with more questions than answers about her mother. Plus, Trina overhears Spencer making a promise to Esme about her.

What will it mean when Ava finally comes to her senses? Meanwhile, Esme listens in on Spencer’s private conversation. (Sorry… maybe we should say “Spence” given that one of the rules in our soap opera drinking game requires that you chug every time she insists on using the nickname!)

What brings Josslyn to the hospital?

Willow tells Michael that she doesn’t want to be alone… which seems like an odd conversation for two people in love to be having. Is something going wrong between them?

Week of May 2:

Monday, May 2:

Brace yourself, Willow, because you’re about to get some pretty shocking news… and from a perhaps unlikely source: Michael’s mom!

While playing the doting grandparents for Bailey, Felicia and Mac find themselves taking a stroll down Memory Lane.

Sonny and Spinelli have an awkward-to-describe relationship, but they wind up sharing an unusually nice moment. What’s causing this unexpected bonding?

It’s a girls night out for Britt, Nina and Obrecht. Something tells us this could wind up being a whole lot of fun… and possibly trouble!

Finn wants to try and get Elizabeth’s mind off everything going on, but that could be a pretty big task!

Tuesday, May 3:

Although she’s not always been the biggest advocate of confession, Carly thinks it’s time for Harmony to come clean. Will she be able to push Willow’s mom to tell all?

Maxie and Austin’s potential romance could hit a roadblock when she gets up in his grill about something that needs discussing.

TJ is relatively new at this whole medical thing, but he’s taking on a tough case.

Sonny and Nina’s relationship continues to get stronger as he opens up to her.

Although Laura recently admitted that she’s fully supportive of Lucy and Martin’s relationship, not everyone might feel the same. The budding couple presents a united front as they try convincing Valentin that they’re a good match.

Wednesday, May 4:

When an old friend shows up on Sonny’s doorstep, will he be happy to see them?

It feels like old times when Felicia and Mac carve out time for Anna and Robert.

Willow’s in major need of a distraction, so the people she’s closest to — Michael, Sasha and Brando — do their best to keep her mind occupied.

Nina seems to be moving on with Sonny, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the past will stay in the past. Case in point: She’s chatting with Phyllis when who should walk in but Valentin…

Harmony and Carly have been spending an unusual amount of time together of late. Today, the former Dawn of Day member asks Michael’s mom to make her a promise…

Thursday, May 5:

Sonny is welcoming Chet back when Dante interrupts to share a bit of news. What we really want to know is whether Chet and Terry will pick things up where they left off, ’cause they have the potential to be a very cute couple! Speaking of the top doc, things don’t go exactly as planned when she and Elizabeth get together.

Chase made very special plans with Brook Lynn… and then promptly forgot them. Will she be able to both forgive and understand, especially given how caught up he’s become with the mysterious goings-on at Elizabeth’s house?

Having been in the game quite a bit longer than TJ, Britt has some advice for the young doctor that he might be wise to take.

When Carly and Michael try having a conversation around Wiley that they don’t necessarily want him to pick up on, will they wind up spelling certain words?

Friday, May 6:

Willow is in a state of disbelief, which leaves us wondering if perhaps she has — as is Port Charles tradition — become the last to know.

When Gladys is in need of a knight in shining armor, Valentin is there to offer a hand.

Jordan and Curtis are in the same place at the same time.

Scott can be a bit of a flibbertigibbet, so Nina might need a bit of good luck when she tries to command his complete and total attention!

When someone approaches Sonny about a job, are they looking for legitimate work at the coffee biz or perhaps to be involved in… whatever illegal operation it is that Sonny runs which definitely does not involve guns, drugs or any of the other things usually associated with mobsters.

Harmony may find that time is running out, which could be why she’s desperately attempting to make a plan.

Will EJ take his mother seriously when she warns that she’s had one of her premonitions about his son, Johnny?

Shawn and Belle have been struggling ever since Jan revealed that she’s carrying his baby. Now, what Shawn decides just might push his wife right over the edge. (Could EJ wind up being there to catch her?)

Friday, April 29:

Susan and EJ rush to save Johnny, as Andre tries to end both Johnny and Ben. Plus, AllieDevil takes off with a grieving Ciara, and Chanel and Tripp bond.

Thanks to the devil, Allie’s setting a trap for Ciara. And the mom-to-be is about to walk directly into it! Meanwhile, Andre — aka Satan’s minion — has a bit of fun by toying with Ben and Johnny!

Kevin Spirtas’ exit as Craig leaves Leo hell-bent on revenge.

Week of May 2:

Monday, May 2:

The devil is one step closer to getting his hands on Ben and Ciara’s baby. But can a possessed Allie really keep the mom-to-be away from all of those who love her? Meanwhile, Ben and Jake turn to Marlena for help in trying to figure out exactly where Ciara might be.

Things are about to get incredibly complicated for Chanel when she finally learns what’s really been going on with Johnny.

You know who we didn’t expect to be offering advice to EJ? Rafe! Yet that’s exactly what’s about to happen. In related news, they’re now serving Sno Cones in hell.

Tuesday, May 3:

Anyone who thought Leo would just pack his no-doubt designer bags and leave Salem after what went down at the wedding doesn’t know the schemer all that well. Because if there’s one thing on the nearly-wed Leo’s mind, it’s revenge… so Chad and Sonny had best watch out!

Speaking of the wedding, remember how as she was being arrested, Gwen — looking stunning in her gown, by the way — whispered to Abigail that she’d killed Laura? Well, apparently Abby’s been sitting on that nugget all this time. But today, she’ll share the news with Jennifer. Cue Jennifer’s head exploding in 3… 2…

As Nancy tries to comfort the ex-husband who broke her heart, Xander finds himself encouraging Gwen to do the right thing. But does she even remember how to do that at this point?

Wednesday, May 4:

Gwen is in the hot seat yet again as Jack, Jennifer and Abigail corner her to demand answers. With nothing left to lose, might Gwen finally just throw up her hands and share all her secrets?

Leo begs Craig to give him one more chance. But after everything that went down at their wedding, is that even possible?

Chloe made her feelings about dad Craig’s relationship with Leo perfectly clear. Now, she’ll have to deal with her other parent’s personal life as she discovers that Nancy’s dating Clyde!

Thursday, May 5:

Remember when Ciara was being held hostage and Ben managed to communicate with her via a psychic connection? Well, the hunk’s hoping that with a little help from Susan, he might just be able to track down his missing wife!

Paulina’s got a good guy and a bad guy interested in her. Unfortunately, she doesn’t realize that TR is every bit the rat bastard he was years ago. As tensions rise between Abe and his rival, will TR make a potentially deadly move?

Lani’s been praying for a miracle, and she’s about to get it…

At the Horton cabin, Allie does everything in her power to prevent Ciara from cluing in to what’s really going on.

Friday, May 6:

Johnny and Allie have always had that special twin bond. But can he use it today to reach his possessed sister the same way she managed to reach him a few weeks back?

The big day has finally arrived. But as Ciara goes into labor, will AllDevil really manage to — forgive the pun — take possession of the newborn?

Even as Lani has reason to celebrate thanks to Eli finally waking up, mom Paulina finds herself being proposed to by one of the men in her life. Unfortunately, it’s TR, so here’s hoping she’s smart enough to turn him down! (This being a soap, however, we suspect she’ll accept!)

A Critic’s Review of Days of our Lives: A Disastrous Wedding And Reveals

When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.

Days of our Lives: A Critic’s Week In Review

Much like Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford), I found the majority of this week’s Days of our Lives strangely riveting.

The DAYS-astrous double wedding was a hoot from a raucous start to a startling conclusion – raise your hand if you saw Gwen Rizczech’s (Emily O’Brien) confession to premeditated murder coming?

I also got a big kick out of Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) rubbing her freedom in Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) and Gabi Hernandez DiMera’s faces and Gabi putting Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) on blast in turn.

And call me crazy if you must, but I’m starting to warm up to JAva. I was prepared to be against the coupling if, for no other reason, then the fact that she nearly sent him to prison for a crime that he didn’t commit “just because,” but the two of them are winning me over, much like OG Melrose Place’s resident twisted twosome Peter and Amanda.

That said, I do have some major problems with the logic that Days of our Lives – and indeed the Salem judiciary system – employs. How is it that Gwen is a bigger get than Ava?

Maybe if the soap had made clear that Melinda was doing this to score brownie points with the powerful Kiriakis clan, I could get behind it. But the way the story played out, it made little to no sense that Ava, who aided and abetted a kidnapping, impersonated another person with the explicit purpose of causing that person harm, and who worked to frame a police commissioner for corruption, would be traded for a woman who drugged another woman into insanity and aided and abetted a kidnapping.

I also believe that Days of our Lives truly dropped the ball where Friday’s episode was concerned. How do you not pick up the thread from such a major cliffhanger? And to not only ignore Gwen’s confession but ignore it for the sake of DevAllie (Lindsay Arnold) shenanigans and scenes featuring Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) smooching her abuser is just plain criminal. Criminal I say!

Further DAYS Musings

* All right Days of our Lives devotees, what say you? What middle name should the spouses Weston give their bouncing baby boy…assuming that they don’t mean to actually name him Bo Something Weston. I’m partial to either Horton (which no explanation is necessary) or Grayson (Alice Horton’s maiden Name), myself.

* After watching Abe Carver (James Reynolds) force himself to forgo reuniting with Paulina because, “I don’t want my heart to be broken again,” I found myself tallying up all the times that Abe has been let down in past, and was left with one startling conclusion: Lexi sure has a lot to answer for.

I’d forgotten just how often that lady had cheated on and lied to her ever-loving, ever-faithful husband. Maybe if Abe didn’t have all of that baggage, maybe he’d be more inclined to forgive Paulina for her lie about Lani Price Grant (Sal Stowers).

* While I’m all for Nancy Wesley (Patrika Darbo) finding a man to worship at her altar, I cannot, will not condone a Nancy/Clyde Weston (James Read) pairing. The man is a sadist and all-around predator.

A Critic’s Review of General Hospital: Putting It To The Fans

When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.

General Hospital: A Critic’s Week In Review

Okay, I’m not going to lie. When Laura Collins (Genie Francis) stuck her finger in Spencer Cassadine’s (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) face and warned him, “Don’t you ever try to dismiss me again,” she scared me, and all I was doing was sitting at home watching my stories.

If only Laura could strike that same kind of fear into the hearts of the General Hospital head writers. Maybe then Dan and Chris/Chris and Dan would present some stories worthy of this once great show.

But perhaps I’m being too cruel here. Dear readers/fellow General Hospital enthusiasts, YOU take to the comments and answer these queries:

After all this time, do you care to learn the secrets that Marshall (Robert Gossett) has been hiding, or, like me, has your interest waned seeing as how this nothing burger storyline has been dragging on since October of last year?

Are you on the edge of your seat, itching for the reveal of Elizabeth Webber’s (Rebecca Herbst) stalker, or, like me, have you given up any and all hope that there will be a suitable payoff?

And as for this Spencer v the gang v Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) arch, are you waiting on tenterhooks to see Spencer play Knight In Shining Armor, or, much like myself, are you just wishing that this was all over with, and wishing that General Hospital had sullied what could have been their next big teen love story? I don’t know about you, but I’m no longer rooting for TBT to unite Spencer and Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali). Girl could do so much better.

Further GH Musings

* A merger? ELQ and Aurora Media? Edward Quartermaine is rolling over in his grave as I type these words (or he would be if he were, you know, real).

* Here’s a few more Q’s for you good folks to ponder and hopefully answer:

Am I reading far too much into things, or did it seem like the show kind of went out of its way to imply that Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) was the man who stood Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) up?

Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and Britt. Yay? Nay?

Personally, I could take them or leave them. They are more charming together than say, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) and Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), in my humble opinion.

* So, Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) – that’s Monica QUARTERMAINE – couldn’t be at the party officially welcoming Leo into her family, but Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) – that’s Carly CORINTHOS, the woman who made life a misery for Monica’s baby boy – was there and front and center?

Remember last week when I complained about Carly being in every gosh darn storyline? Maybe now you’ll see that it had some merit. I’m honestly and truly waiting to see how General Hospital will insert her into the Marshall/Curtis drama.

All that being said, I did get a slight chuckle out of Carly just blithely busting her way into Alexis Davis’s (Nancy Lee Grahn) abode. I also shook my head and thought, “That’s so Carly!”

* Why did Elizabeth thank Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) for bailing Cameron Webber (William Lipton) out of jail? No charges were filed against her son, and he most certainly didn’t attend a bail hearing.

* Why is it that General Hospital’s Harmony Miller (Inga Cadranel) is only just now getting interesting? And what was the point of putting the actress on a long-term contract when all the writers saw fit to do was drive her character off the deep end?

Was it because so many of us began to ship her and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn)? I get it, I get it. Alexis must be alone, sad, and pathetic at all times, and she, and her fans, must never have anything nice. Lesson finally learned!

A Critic’s Review of Young and the Restless: Audacity And More Disrespect

When it comes to Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: A Critic’s Week In Review

The audacity of this show is staggering. First, The Young and the Restless has the audacity to suggest that we’ll finally be free of this obviously never fully plotted, ever-changing Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) storyline only to turn right around and add yet another displeasing element to it.

Then there’s the audacity to give exiting actor Jordi Vilasuso such a mediocre finale. He’s not even the star of this plot. It’s all about Victoria Newman Locke (Amelia Heinle) and Ashland and, to a much lesser extent Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case).

That pointed out, I still half expect The Young and the Restless headwriter Josh Griffith to evoke memories of Mal Young by claiming that this is the soap’s “gift” to Jordi much like the “gift” Mishael Morgan was given when she was so unceremoniously kicked to the curb and Hilary was likewise dispatched. Talk about audacity.

And did Y&R actually try to make it a mystery as to who was driving the third car with all that, Where’s Sally Spectra? Why isn’t she at the hotel where she’s supposed to be, nonsense? That in and of itself was insulting.

Also, why make Ashland so stupid as to not try to leave his car via the passenger side door?

Now, with my written tantrum behind me, I will admit to being ever so slightly curious to see whether The Young and the Restless will take their time recoupling Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) and Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) who, let’s face it, have always been endgame, or if they’ll have the audacity to act as though ‘Shay’ was never a thing and throw the former marrieds back together again with a quickness.

Given everything that’s transpired thus far, I’m going to say that Shick will be walking down the aisle by this time next month, or the next at the most.

Further Y&R Musings

* Can we please just go ahead and give Sharon Case the Daytime Emmy for Best Actress now, please and thank you.

* Did Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) really need to stay put at the crime scene? A real self-respecting officer of the law would have taken it upon themselves to inform their partner’s spouse/significant other of their passing.

* Exchange of the Week:

Adam: Are you trying to cheer me up by pointing out that my father is ruder to you than he is to me?
Sally: Is it working?

A Critic’s Review of The Bold and the Beautiful: Story Swerve And TPTB

When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.

The Bold and the Beautiful: A Critic’s Week In Review

Boy, the characters on The Bold and the Beautiful sure say and do a lot of stupid things…things that really reflect badly on TPTB that keep this show chugging along.

Zende Forrester (Delon de Metz) to Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor): You’re like a brother to Ridge (Thorsten Kaye). Is he? I could maybe, MAYBE give the writers “Ridge’s best friend” but brother? No.

And you know what that line of dialogue did, other than really tick me off? It drew attention to a big gaping hole on the show’s canvas – where is Ridge’s actual brother, Thorne Forrester? Heck, where are Ridge’s sisters? And do any of Ridge’s kin know that their niece is in a hospital?

Ridge to Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang): “[Steffy] just woke up and she’s lost some things. Give her a chance to find them, please.” Oh, really Ridge? Like how you and Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen) gave Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) a chance to get her bearings before launching into an interrogation, demanding to know who shot her and Finn and why?

Then there’s Carter and Paris Buckingham (Diamond White) airing their business at work where anybody can overhear and Carter and Quinn Fuller Forrester (Rena Sofer) just chatting away, alone together in the same office as if they hadn’t just ended a cuckold affair that had the whole office buzzing.

And I just love how one day Carter’s goo-goo gaga for Paris and the next he’s intimating that he was only with Paris because he was trying desperately to forget Quinn. Who, huh, and what? I get that The Bold and the Beautiful is all about the swerve, but come on.

Also, why is B&B telling us that there are problems in Quinn and Eric Forrester’s (John McCook) marriage rather than showing us?

Further B&B Musings

* Kudos to The Bold and the Beautiful for actually remembering that Steffy would have remembered Kelly as far younger than she actually is.

* Is there anyone else out there beginning to fear/suspect that we will soon be seeing that dreaded Steam portrait back on the wall of the cliff house?

* Ridge continues to be all kinds of awful. What man stands around browbeating someone who just tried to commit suicide. Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) is the villain of this piece, and I feel far more for her than I do for Ridge, an ostensible hero. That’s just not how it should be though.

Soap Hub Performer of the Week For General Hospital: Nancy Lee Grahn

Alexis Davis needs to stop finding Byrne Brothers dead bodies — which means that Harmony Miller would have to stop killing Byrne Brothers — but at least she didn’t find this second one in her bed after a night of passion. No, this time Alexis just wanted to take the launch out to Wyndemere for the second time in one day to talk to Nikolas Cassadine and ended up seeing a body floating in the river. As Alexis’ shock and horror crept onto her unsuspecting face, we felt the same shock and horror. For that reason, and so many others during an exceptional few episodes, Nancy Lee Grahn is General Hospital’s Soap Hub Performer of the Week.

Nancy Lee Grahn: Performer of the Week

After so many months of Alexis being a ‘talk to’ in the rec room in her hotel-level jail, it’s a relief to see her involved with a hot story again, and a story that should have and could have been wrapped up two years ago. Still, better late than never and Grahn is certainly delivering. The shock on her face when she found Brendan’s (Josh Coxx) body was enough, but the stunned look Alexis gave Harmony (Inga Cadranel) when Harmony suggested she have a drink knowing she was an alcoholic was all of us.

The audience knew Harmony had been coming unglued for weeks, with Cadranel getting Performer of the Week honors from Soap Hub when her downward spiral hit full force, but that line at the Metro Court bar was Alexis’ tip-off that things with her new roomie might be reaching a whole other level and Grahn told us exactly what Alexis was thinking without saying a word. It was a combination of surprise at Harmony’s suggestion and longing because after finding a body, a drink sounded good, despite Alexis knowing how bad it really was.

Before Alexis even came across Brendan’s body doing the dead man’s float in the river, she shared a glorious scene with her once-brother/now-cousin Valentin Cassadine, proving Grahn’s easy and witty rapport with James Patrick Stuart is as fresh as ever. Seeing that relaxation around Valentin turned into the angst of finding a dead body, as soap characters often do, was a genius way to devolve Alexis’ day. Taking a hot mess Harmony home as Alexis’ bewilderment turned to slight fear was the cap on it.

Friday brought us the next day in Port Charles time with Harmony unspooling faster than thread and Grahn’s Alexis determined to find out why. However, Grahn easily showed us that Alexis is also a bit apprehensive because the realization that her taste in friends is as bad as her taste in men was apparent in every expression.

The full reality of the situation Alexis has gotten herself into with Harmony was apparent as Harmony ordered Alexis around and told her that she owes her. Grahn portrayed her character’s horror perfectly — from the dead man in the water to the hotter-mess-than-her that she invited into her home.

Soap Hub Performer of the Week for B&B: Krista Allen

Taylor Hayes is living out every parent’s worst nightmare with her daughter Steffy Forrester Finnegan being in the hospital on The Bold and the Beautiful. For her performance as a devoted mother, Soap Hub bestows performer of the week honors for B&B upon Taylor’s portrayer, Krista Allen.

Krista Allen – Performer of the Week

The B&B writers have used the tragedy of Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) being shot, Finn Finnegan’s (Tanner Novlan) death, and Steffy’s subsequent memory loss to place Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Taylor in a very familiar position — against one another! Taylor and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) are in no rush to correct Steffy, given her fragile state; conversely, Brooke doesn’t want Hope Logan Spencer’s (Annika Noelle) marriage to Liam Spencer be put in jeopardy.

Given all the years that Liam (Scott Clifton) went back and forth between the two women, Brooke’s plight and concern for Hope are understandable. However, given Steffy’s condition, Brooke, by voicing her concerns so quickly, finally may have done something more tactless than the time she withheld Ridge’s letter to Caroline Spencer (Joanna Johnson), who ended up marrying Thorne.

Krista Allen’s Taylor shot Brooke a glare that spoke a thousand words. Her performance was aided by strong dialogue. “The fact that you would even think that I would use my daughter’s memory loss to play matchmaker between her and Liam is appalling,” Taylor shot at Brooke. She took a beat and then added a telling, “Even for you.”

Taylor tried to explain (again) to Brooke that Liam was providing a necessary lifeline to her daughter at this critical time. Later, a concerned Hope joined the conversation which prompted Brooke to tell Taylor that this situation was taking a toll on her daughter.

“I’m sorry,” an incredulous Taylor responded. “Did you say it was taking a toll on your daughter these last few hours? I want you to hear me very clearly. No one is going to undermine my daughter’s recovery. Do you understand?” With this performance, Allen continues to shine as Dr. Taylor Hayes — a mother who will fiercely do whatever it takes to ensure her daughter’s recovery. Brava to Krista Allen!

Honorable mention: Dan Martin has played lawman Brad Baker on B&B since 1997. For the last 25 years, he’s shown up throughout numerous storylines bringing a much-needed tone of authority and gravitas to crime-themed tales. Watch out, Sheila (Kimberlin Brown)! With Deputy Chief Baker on the scene, you can’t stay hidden forever!

Soap Hub Performer of the Week For DAYS: Emily O’Brien

Since making her DAYS debut two years ago, Emily O’Brien has won herself both a legion of fans and a legion of detractors playing a character for whom the phrase “love to hate” seems tailor-made. For this alone, the actress should receive kudos, but today she wins a special prize – Soap Hub’s Performer of the Week award – for her spectacular work during Gwen’s much deserved and long-awaited comeuppance.

Emily O’Brien – Performer of the Week

For a thespian, perhaps the hardest job of all is to stand around and merely react to unfolding action rather than actively participate. As her alter-ego’s world crumbled around her, thanks in no small part to Gwen’s revenge-minded sister, Abigail Deveraux DiMera (Marci Miller), O’Brien stood by and watched, but by no means did she do so passively.

O’Brien clung to co-star Paul Telfer and frequently searched his face – or, more accurately, his character’s – for any indication that he was beginning to buy what her accuser was selling. At times she clutched the neck of Gwen’s gown subtly telegraphing that the noose that was tightening.

The more Abigail pressed on, the more Gwen realized that the game was up, and O’Brien’s grip on his suit became like a vise.

One by one, all of Gwen’s crimes were revealed. Her keeping quiet about Sarah Horton’s (Linsey Godfrey) imprisonment on DiMera island, her impersonation of Sarah, the role she played in Abigail’s kidnapping, and, most damning of all, her decision to monkey with the drug that was supposed to help restore Sarah’s memory.

Once Gwen’s excuse for her actions was well and truly dismissed – I did it all for love she claimed – O’Brien got to finally let loose and vomit Gwen’s self-righteous anger all over her detractors.

“You don’t fool me! Just because you cloud it all in this Horton morality, Horton gentility. I know that this is payback, and you and your old lady, you are no better than me. And your bogus, disgusting piety just makes me sick. It makes me SICK!”

And while all that above had been shouted at full volume for all in the town square to hear, Gwen saved her most biting remark for Abigail and Abigail alone. “Just so you know, your precious Grandmother…I killed that little bitch on purpose!”

Honorable Mention: Matthew Ashford

Ashford and Emily O’Brien have always shared a particularly stellar father/daughter chemistry, but that familial bond that their characters share has been irrevocably damaged. “Don’t EVER call me [dad] again,” his Jack Deveraux demanded. “I forgave, and forgave, and forgave and believed that you could be saved…I am done with you.” The hurt, the disappointment was palpable. It was in Ashford’s body and his eyes, especially the eyes.

Honorable Mention: Marci Miller

As the public excoriator, Miller had the lion’s share of dialogue which she delivered with a true pro’s panache. Her best bit? Without a doubt, it was Abigail’s fervent demand that Gwen, “can it…BITCH!” Nobody, but nobody interrupts Abigail when she’s on a roll.

Honorable Mention: Paul Telfer

On social media, the always affable Telfer had nothing but kudos for O’Brien. On-screen, his Xander had a much less congenial attitude towards Gwen whom he dubbed, “the worst person I have ever known,” in a voice that somehow conveyed dripping disdain and utter heartbreak all at once.

Honorable Mention: Melissa Reeves

It’s rare to see Reeves in fighting form but she gave serious mama bear vibes when her Jennifer Rose Horton Deveraux saddled up to O’Brien’s Gwen and not only denounced her as a coward but outright dared her to continue the hate-filled tirade she’d begun.

Soap Hub Performer of the Week for Y&R: Sharon Case

The Young and the Restless viewers know that Sharon Rosales loves her family, and she loved her husband Rey Rosales. This week, Rey passed away suddenly in an accident, and Sharon waited in desperation for word of her missing husband until Nick Newman gave her the tragic news. For her performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Sharon’s portrayer, Sharon Case.

Sharon Case — Y&R Performer of the Week

Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) didn’t return to Crimson Lights to take Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) to that hockey game. As time passed, Sharon became increasingly worried about not hearing from her husband. Case played the part of a nervous and worried wife, hoping for the best but fearing the worst perfectly.

Also, when Sharon confronted Chelsea about her feelings about Rey, Case hit just the right notes showcasing Sharon’s newer demeanor as a therapist. The actress really helped Sharon hit the right balance of saying what she wanted to say while keeping it from being overly accusatory.

However, Case’s real shining moment of the week came when Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) showed up at Crimson Lights. Sharon knew. She knew, but she asked Nick for a moment while she remembered some of her favorite things about Rey before learning the terrible, tragic news of Rey’s untimely death. Case perfectly portrayed Sharon’s pain as she sobbed and broke down in Nick’s arms.

Plus, when Sharon was in shock the next day as she called Rey’s family, the actress did an excellent job revealing how disconnected her on-screen alter ego felt as she merely went through the motions in order to try to keep things together so she didn’t fall apart forever. Bravo Sharon Case on an excellent performance and on making us feel the real pain Sharon, who’s already lost so much to car wrecks, felt once again through such a horrible loss.

Weekly Soap Spoilers: April 25-29, 2022

The Young and the Restless

Nikki gets a blast from the past that she would have preferred stayed in the past, Ashland commits himself to doing the impossible where Victoria’s concerned, Imani flirts up a storm with Elena’s boyfriend, Sally’s loose lips let slip a secret, and at last, Diane is reunited with her son. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg, folks.

Friday, April 22:

Victor warns Ashland, Victoria snaps at her father, Adam breaks sad news to Chelsea and Connor, and Sharon deals with an unexpected request from Celeste.

Ashland may think he’s still large and in charge, but Victor makes it clear that he’s larger and… um… in charger. Today, the Black Knight gives his unscrupulous son-in-law his marching orders. But in light of what Victoria’s been through, will he listen?

She’s scarcely had time to figure out what it is yet, and already, Victoria struggles with her new normal. Maybe she can take some consolation in our photo gallery of her life story. She’s been through — and gotten over — a lot.

Adam supports Chelsea, who, if our suspicions are correct, may be mourning the loss of her crush and dear friend, Rey. Amazingly, the easy-on-the-eyes detective became her one of her staunchest supporters even after she poisoned his shower gel in a bid to frame her ex-husband Adam.

Week of April 25:

Y&R Restless Rant! Hot topics: Sharon’s intensely realistic grief, “Ashtoria’s” future, Sally’s secret, Diane drama ahead and a shake-up for “Elate”?!?!

Monday, April 25:

Hide the fireplace pokers and river rocks! Today, Jack tells Nikki about Diane’s return, and we’re pretty certain the Newman matriarch is going to want to “end” the former Jabot model all over again when she finds out that she went up on murder charges for nothing!

Phyllis lays down the law, and we have to assume it’s Diane with whom she’s setting boundaries. But if their history is anything to go by, the troublemaker extraordinaire will pay little heed — or indeed no heed at all — to her nemesis’ warning.

Grab the tissues… and make it a whole box of ’em! When Sharon makes a painful decision, it’s gotta be related to the tragic loss of her husband, Rey. Will Nick be on hand for support? He’s been spending a lot of time around Crimson Lights, so here’s hoping her ex can be a source of strength at this difficult time.

Tuesday, April 26:

When Victor has a change of heart about Victoria, will he decide that after all she’s been through — and the way Adam has proven himself — it’s best she not retake the CEO seat at Newman-Locke? Also, will it still be known as Newman-Locke now that Ashland’s no longer associated with the company? Inquiring minds want to know!

As mentioned previously, we doubt it’s going to go over well when Diane wants to make amends with Nikki. We’re also quite certain that Victor — who once threw Kyle’s mother out of an ambulance — is going to have some strong opinions on the matter.

Kyle returns home to chaos, which will be no surprise at all to anyone familiar with the kind of havoc his mother Diane tends to wreak. If you’re not in the know, get up to speed by taking a look through Diane’s diabolical history in Genoa City.

Wednesday, April 27:

When Jack drops a bombshell, it can only be the moment that he reveals to Kyle that his mother is alive — and has been all of these years since he mourned her as a child. How on earth will the Abbott heir react?!? We’ll be on the edge of our seats waiting to find out! But if you can’t wait, here’s Peter Bergman offering a little preview.

Been there, done that, didn’t think she’d ever have to do it again! Yep, it’s bound to be a déjà vu moment for Phyllis when she busts Diane. But what is the schemer up to already? Perhaps trying to crash Jack’s big announcement to Kyle?

Chelsea is forced to defend herself, which will undoubtedly be an upsetting position to find herself in as she’s still processing Rey’s death. Will she need to call on Adam again for support, and if so, what will the new dynamic mean for Sally?

Thursday, April 28:

Not going anywhere! When Ashland makes a promise to Victoria, we have to wonder if the disgraced mogul will make a vow to win back her love and respect after all he’s put her through. Will she be open to being persuaded or tell him to take a long hike off a short pier?

Someone alert Elena! We have a feeling fireworks are going to be in the air when Imani works overtime to charm Nate. If we’re being honest, all Amanda’s sister has to do is walk into the room, and the atmosphere becomes electric!

It looks like Chance, who is on his own without a partner now that Rey’s gone, is being thrown right into the deep end of policing as he makes a shocking discovery. What will he do with the stunning information, and which Genoa City residents will it affect?!?

Friday, April 29:

Called it!

The Bold and the Beautiful

An ever-more-unhinged Sheila decides that the time has come to tick “silence Steffy forever” off her to-do list. In other developments, Brooke and Hope assert to Liam that honesty is the best policy, Bill sets Poor Dead Vinny rolling over in his grave by vowing to see justice done where Steffy’s concerned, and Deacon means well but may soon learn the hard way that where people as unstable as Sheila are concerned, silence is golden.

Friday, April 22:

Steffy’s memories begin to return under questioning, Sheila squares off with Ridge, and Taylor lays down the law.

Taylor stands her ground with Brooke and Hope about Steffy’s treatment. Erm, we can’t think why the Logans would have an opinion on this… unless it involves Liam staying glued to Steffy’s bedside. D’oh.

Well, this is terrifying: Sheila’s anxiety skyrockets as it seems like her shoddily constructed house of cards is about to come crashing down around her. As we all know, the madwoman is at her diabolical worst when she’s feeling cornered — what will her next outrageous move be?!?

Week of April 25:

Monday, April 25:

Why, this shouldn’t raise any red flags at all! Sheila intervenes when Ridge and Deputy Chief Baker push Steffy to remember. Mm-hmm, because nothing says, “I had nothing to do with it!” like a career criminal with homicidal tendencies getting in the way of an investigation of her own son’s death.

They’re not doctors, but they… Hey, wait. Hope and Brooke don’t even play doctors on TV. Yet the mother/daughter duo still team up to urge a conflicted Liam to tell Steffy the truth.

Tuesday, April 26:

Is Steffy under armed guard at all times? Because she oughta be! In a panic, Sheila decides to finish the job that she started — in other words, finish off Finn’s widow!

It’s times like these that the saying “The truth hurts” gets extra painful: Liam tries to be gentle, but there’s no easy way to break it to Steffy about Finn’s tragic fate.

Wednesday, April 27:

As an emotional Steffy faces Finn’s death surrounded by her loved ones, you can go ahead and cry right along with her as you review our tear-stained photo gallery of the soap’s most impactful deaths of all time.

If Steffy only knew that Sheila was the reason that Finn is pushing up daisies and she herself might be next. But completely in the dark, Steffy shares a rare moment of sympathy with the increasingly desperate madwoman.

Thursday, April 28:

Sounds like Steffy’s gonna dodge at least this bullet when Sheila’s evil plan gets thwarted in an unexpected way. Could she have an attack of conscience and decide to stop ruining people’s lives or, worse, ending them?

Raise your hand if you didn’t see this one coming: Hope worries about the connection between Steffy and Liam. But does she have reason to worry? Um, considering that he ran off, got drunk and had sex with his ex as soon as he saw Thomas necking with the Hope mannequin, we’re gonna go out on a limb and say yes.

Friday, April 29:

When Bill and Liam vow to get justice for Steffy, they could be inadvertently moving themselves to the top of Sheila’s hit list. Is it too late for them to have Deacon show them some martial arts moves? Speaking of Hope’s dad…

Deacon serves up well-intentioned words of comfort to a tortured Sheila. But will they have desired effect… or only serve to further unnerve the unstable woman?

Why has Steffy’s grandfather been so scarce since Finn’s death and Steffy’s near-death? Let’s let John McCook (Eric) answer that question himself.

Alexis is horrified by what she discovers at the pier.

Nina and Ava are usually on the same page, but today Sonny’s girlfriend issues a word of warning to Avery’s mom.

Cameron’s words come back to bite him when Joss wants to know exactly what he meant by them!

Thursday, April 21:

Surveillance is anything but boring when Chase finds himself caught off guard.

For young guys, Cameron and Spencer have an awful lot of issues. The friends find time to compare notes and maybe offer one another advice.

While waiting for her date, Britt is in the right place to overhear someone else’s conversation.

It’s been a long time since Maxie and Spinelli were a couple, so it makes sense that they might have an awkward moment or two.

Curtis lets someone know that their bill has come due and he wants to be paid in full.

Friday, April 22:

Carly catches Harmony in a sticky situation, Curtis finally learns what Marshall is hiding, and Liz and Finn are shocked when they watch Chase’s camera footage.

Dante’s questions definitely do not sit well with pop Sonny.

Michael’s made a decision and he’s determined to stand by it… but Willow’s got a few concerns about it.

After Finn and Liz have a disagreement, Lucy offers the nurse a suggestion.

Sasha arrives at exactly the right moment.

Wednesday, April 27:

Ruh-roh. Trina is all alone at the gallery when hears a door closing…

Friday, April 29:

What will it mean when Ava finally comes to her senses? Meanwhile, Esme listens in on Spencer’s private conversation. (Sorry… maybe we should say “Spence” given that one of the rules in our soap opera drinking game requires that you chug every time she insists on using the nickname!)

What brings Josslyn to the hospital?

Willow tells Michael that she doesn’t want to be alone… which seems like an odd conversation for two people in love to be having. Is something going wrong between them?
