When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.
General Hospital: A Critic’s Week In Review
“Discussion. That means quiet yelling.” And just like that, Violet Finn (Jophielle Love) proved that she’s the smartest character on General Hospital. In second place, Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) for knowing without a shadow of a doubt that Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) is a, “off-brand sociopath.” And in third, Laura Collins (Genie Francis) for refusing to believe the best in Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy).
When it comes to the rest of the characters on the GH canvas, Chris and Dan/Dan and Chris has done a damn fine job of making the majority of them dumb as dirt.
There’s Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) proving that he’s nowhere near as smart as the average bear, and Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) proving that the apple doesn’t fall from the tree.
Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) is out here worrying more about whether or not Spencer believes in her innocence rather than she is about to go to prison.
Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and everyone in her orbit is too dim to install security cameras both inside and outside her abode; and the less said about Liz’s boys being so worthless that they can’t even figure out how to disarm a security system the better.
And General Hospital better have a damn good excuse for why Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) is running around and doing Victor’s bidding. That’s the biggest plot hole so far.
Further GH Musings
* Did my ears deceive me, or did I hear Terry Randolph (Cassandra James) tell Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) that she’d have to clear his working at GH with Lucas Jones. Has it not be established that Lucas isn’t even in the state of New York anymore? Isn’t that why he couldn’t attend Carly Corinthos’s (Laura Wright) wedding to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) or support Bobbi Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) when Luke died?
Speaking of Terry, I was pleasantly surprised to see that GH hasn’t completely dropped her budding romance with Chet (Chris Van Etten)…but I also can’t help but feel that that was just a tease for a storyline that will never come. This soap is notorious for setting up storylines and then never following through.
* Selina Wu (Lydia Look) continues to be the best thing about General Hospital, and I’ll be darned if she doesn’t have chemistry with a capital C with Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner).
