When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.
The Bold and the Beautiful: A Critic’s Week In Review
Boy, the characters on The Bold and the Beautiful sure say and do a lot of stupid things…things that really reflect badly on TPTB that keep this show chugging along.
Zende Forrester (Delon de Metz) to Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor): You’re like a brother to Ridge (Thorsten Kaye). Is he? I could maybe, MAYBE give the writers “Ridge’s best friend” but brother? No.
And you know what that line of dialogue did, other than really tick me off? It drew attention to a big gaping hole on the show’s canvas – where is Ridge’s actual brother, Thorne Forrester? Heck, where are Ridge’s sisters? And do any of Ridge’s kin know that their niece is in a hospital?
Ridge to Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang): “[Steffy] just woke up and she’s lost some things. Give her a chance to find them, please.” Oh, really Ridge? Like how you and Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen) gave Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) a chance to get her bearings before launching into an interrogation, demanding to know who shot her and Finn and why?
Then there’s Carter and Paris Buckingham (Diamond White) airing their business at work where anybody can overhear and Carter and Quinn Fuller Forrester (Rena Sofer) just chatting away, alone together in the same office as if they hadn’t just ended a cuckold affair that had the whole office buzzing.
And I just love how one day Carter’s goo-goo gaga for Paris and the next he’s intimating that he was only with Paris because he was trying desperately to forget Quinn. Who, huh, and what? I get that The Bold and the Beautiful is all about the swerve, but come on.
Also, why is B&B telling us that there are problems in Quinn and Eric Forrester’s (John McCook) marriage rather than showing us?
Further B&B Musings
* Kudos to The Bold and the Beautiful for actually remembering that Steffy would have remembered Kelly as far younger than she actually is.
* Is there anyone else out there beginning to fear/suspect that we will soon be seeing that dreaded Steam portrait back on the wall of the cliff house?
* Ridge continues to be all kinds of awful. What man stands around browbeating someone who just tried to commit suicide. Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) is the villain of this piece, and I feel far more for her than I do for Ridge, an ostensible hero. That’s just not how it should be though.
