DAYS Star Vanessa Estelle Williams Lands Exciting Primetime Role

Now that Days of our Lives’ Abe Carver and Paulina Price are engaged, fans might be wondering what the mayor’s ex, Valerie Grant, would have to say about the upcoming nuptials. But although her portrayer, Vanessa Estelle Williams pops into Salem from time to time, it looks like the actress might be a bit too busy to have her say.

Vanessa Estelle Williams Cast In Fox Drama 9-1-1

Williams took to Instagram to unveil a story that went up on Deadline confirming that she has been cast in an important recurring role in the Fox drama, 9-1-1. Using hashtags to call herself “blessed” and “grateful,” Williams made sure to tag show creator Ryan Murphy and star Angela Bassett in her post.

Lamon Archey, who as Eli played opposite his on-screen mom a lot when Williams was on DAYS, was quick to offer his congrats to his former costar. “Stay killin it!! Love to see it. Congrats,” the actor posted in response to her news.

The Deadline story revealed that Williams will play Claudette Collins, a tough and confident 9-1-1 Call Center veteran who returns to the main Los Angeles station and shows the younger generation, including May Grant (Corinne Massiah), how it’s done.

She was introduced in the latest episode, which aired last night, and there’s sure to be some great storylines coming up for the actress. After all, 9-1-1 is known for its big stories, featuring the high-pressure experiences of police officers, firefighters, and dispatchers who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking, and heart-stopping situations.

Williams joins the show just as series regular Jennifer Love Hewitt takes some time off for maternity leave. In addition to Bassett, Massiah, and Hewitt, the show stars Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, Ryan Guzman, Rockmond Dunbar, Marcanthonee Jon Reis, and Gavin McHugh.

Williams has been busy since her last appearance on DAYS in 2020. She can be seen reprising her role in the sequel to Candyman, she was on the L Word: Generation Q this year, and she appeared on American Horror Stories.

Here’s hoping that her 9-1-1 gig turns into a regular thing, but that she still has time off so Valerie can return home to Salem and see Eli and her grandbabies, Jules and Carver.
