Days of our Lives DiMera Resurgence, Will EJ Be The New Stefano?

Days of our Lives’ DiMera family has been front and center in a bigger and bolder way, since Dan Feuerriegel’s introduction as the new EJ. The actor’s strong stalwart portrayal of the DiMera heir has lent a power element to the clan that’s been long missing and makes you wonder if EJ is being groomed as the new Stefano.

Days of our Lives: Bickering Brothers

Before EJ’s return, DiMera Enterprises had been bouncing back and forth between Chad (Billy Flynn) and Jake (Brandon Barash), while Tony (Thaao Penghlis) watched from the sidelines. Former grease monkey Jake lacks the acumen and knowledge to run a multi-million dollar company, while Chad lacks that killer instinct and end-justifies-the-means attitude.

DOOL: He’s Number One

EJ, however, encompasses all of the above on Days of our Lives. Deep down, he’s the kind of man who puts business and power first, and isn’t ashamed to admit it. He’s a carbon copy of his dearly departed father, Stefano (Joseph Mascolo); a power junkie, who’s as cool and crafty as he is lethal. It’s what makes him the perfect candidate to lead the future generations of DiMeras.

For the Love of Sami Brady DiMera

Of course, prior to his brush with death and recovering from the burns he sustained in the warehouse fire, EJ had spent his last few years transforming into the man Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) wanted him to be – kinder, gentler and aboveboard; a better husband and father. But that was never who he really was at his core. Remember, EJ is the man who once tried to kill John (Drake Hogestyn) and tortured Steve (Stephen Nichols).

Reverting Back to Days of our Lives Form

The timing is finally right for EJ to shift back to his true self. He’s gotten a taste of power, again, as the new co-CEO of DiMera Enterprises, but surely he wants more. And with his family in dire need of an omnipotent leader, he’s the man born for the position – the man destined to take complete control of everything.

The catalyst for EJ’s switch back to his old self has already been set in motion: Sami’s affair with Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo). Once EJ learns his wife has betrayed him, he’ll likely ditch her; then, inflict some sort of payback on her and Lucas.

Once that’s taken care of, he’ll have nothing holding him back from reverting to the EJ he was born to be – cold, cunning, and dastardly. In the capable hands of actor Dan Feuerriegel, EJ can finally emerge as the new Stefano and perfect man to rule the DiMera empire.
