DAYS Star Camila Banus To Star in Latinx Holiday Film

As Gabi Hernandez DiMera, Days of our Lives actress Camila Banus has always been proud to represent the Hispanic community through her portrayal over the past decade.

Camila Banus Has A New Role

A new role will let her explore her heritage even more. According to Deadline, producers Autumn Federici and Jake Helgren under their production banner, The Ninth House, has cast Banus as one of the leads in A Christmas & Postre, an upcoming independent Latinx holiday movie.

The film will be written by Cristina Boada, who has written for National Geographic’s scripted series, Valley Of The Boom, and directed by Colombian-American Brittany Underwood, who played Langston on One Life to Live (where she crossed paths with Banus, who played Lola). The movie will also star Mark Hapka, who played Nathan Horton on DAYS from 2009-2011.

In A Christmas & Postre, Banus will play Carmen, described as a “quirky and lovable” pastry chef, who dreams of opening her very own Puerto Rican-influenced postre shop one day — just like the one her family owned on the island. When she puts out her treats at the coffee shop where she works with her sis, Pilar, her talent is quickly noticed.

Another OLTL grad, David Fumero (ex-Cristian), plays hotel owner Victor Flores who offers Carmen a pastry chef position at his hotel for his famous grand holiday event. But when she’s paired with an obnoxious perfectionist of a chef, played by Hapka, animosity — and attraction — emerges. Will they put their differences aside in time to make an inspired Christmas menu? The film also stars Melissa Marty, Terri Hoyos, and Norma Maldonado.

Back in Salem, Gabi has finally found some happiness again now that Jake has chosen her over Kate, but will the rivalry for his affections continue even though he’s made up his mind? Knowing Kate, she’s sure to have some sort of revenge scheme in the back of her mind.
