Life is pretty sweet for Days of our Lives Julie Olson Williams – if only she could figure out why so many of her specially planned celebrations devolve into messy sideshows. Now hopefully Julie’s bad luck with parties won’t extend to actress Susan Seaforth Hayes who has a very special milestone to celebrate.
Happy Birthday, Susan Seaforth Hayes!
And that’s because she was born on July 11, 1943, in Oakland, California, which means that this talented performer is turning 78 years old today! Born Susan Seabold, Hayes adopted the last name Seaforth on the advice of her mother (former actress, screenwriter, and daytime soap opera scripter Elizabeth Harrower) and set about carving out a name for herself in the acting world.
Hayes racked up a number of primetime credits throughout the 1960s including episodes of Death Valley Days, National Velvet, The Fugitive, The Man from U.N.C.L.E, and Adam-12.
In 1964 and 1965 respectively, Hayes had a brief run on General Hospital (as the flirtatious Dorothy Bradley) and The Young Marrieds (as Carol West). In 1968, she joined the cast of DAYS and she remained there until 1984. She subsequently returned in a starring compacity between 1990 and 1993 and she has recurred on the show since 1999.
In a case of life imitating and then superseding art, Hayes married Bill Hayes – her DAYS costar – in 1974 some two years before their on-screen counterparts (lovebirds Julie and Doug Williams) tied the not (though not for the first time).
Between November 1984 and May 1989, Hayes played Joanna Manning – mother to Lauren Fenmore – on The Young and the Restless. Reprisals of the part occurred in 2005, 2007, 2007, and 2010. Hayes also portrayed a character on NBC’s Sunset Beach.
Soap Hub would like to wish Susan Seaforth Hayes
