Y&R Freeze: Should Summer Abbott Be Policing Her Dad’s Love Life?

Should Nick be listening to his daughter’s romantic advice?

Young and the Restless Nick Newman and Summer Newman Abbott

On The Young and the Restless, all it took was for Summer Newman Abbott to see her beloved daddy in a clinch with that evil viper, Sally Spectra, and Summer was down at Sally’s office, ranting and raving, followed by a much more reasonable chat with Nicholas Newman, where she explained that her father had no idea about how dangerous women like Sally were.

Young and the Restless Polling

Poor, innocent Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) only romantic experience, after all, was sweetheart Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case)…and Summer’s (Allison Lanier) shy, retiring, modest mother, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). Does Summer have the right to be policing her dad’s love life like this?

Summer Newman Abbott: Stay Back

It wasn’t even close, as 84% of the audience voted a very emphatic “No.” Summer, child, have yourself a seat. First of all, kids don’t get a vote in their parents’ romances, period. But especially when they’re as awful judges of character as you are.

We’re not even going to get into your inane grudge toward Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope). We’re going to focus today on how you explained to Nick that Sally was nothing like Phyllis. And she didn’t mean that in a good way. If Summer can’t see her mother for who she is, then she certainly isn’t qualified to voice an opinion over Sally!

Young and the Restless: My Family, My Business

Everything Nick does affects Summer, 9% of you point out, so of course, Summer should get a vote. She might have to see that woman at Thanksgiving. And that would make her vaguely miffed. Does Nick want to risk that?

Y&R: Who Knows?

Finally, 7% have no idea what the right thing to do is, here. Sure, Summer has terrible judgment in people. But, then again, so does Nick. He’s never made a right romantic decision in his life. Maybe he really does need someone else to tell him what to do.
