Brytni Sarpy — Y&R Performer of the Week
This week was a big one for Elena. She realized that things with her and Nate (Sean Dominic) were over. The dialog between the two of them was filled with emotions, and Sarpy brought every last one of those out as she delivered the lines. From tearing up, to actual tears, to grief and pain showed through her expressions, we felt Elena’s deep pain at her breakup with the doctor-turned-businessman.
In addition to showing the pain in her face, Brytni Sarpy also conveyed Elena’s feelings through her deliberate body language. She seemed defeated and curled in on herself, especially in the moments when Elena was alone. Clearly, she had deep feelings for Nate, and choosing to leave was difficult.
The way these two got together was through cheating, but even so, Elena and Nate had moved forward in their relationship, and she clearly had feelings for him, which the actress revealed when she gave Nate a hug and a kiss as she prepared to leave him. Sarpy used her tone of voice to convey Elena’s regret that things had ended that way. However, she also delivered her lines with firmness when Elena stood up for herself and her choices, especially after Nate accused her of being selfish and thinking only of herself. Sarpy also kept Elena’s voice firm when she never wavered in letting Nate know that he didn’t blow up his job at Chancellor-Winters due to her.
Bravo on an excellent performance, Brytni Sarpy!
