When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.
The Bold and the Beautiful: A Critic’s Week In Review
If there’s one thing that I don’t expect to see on The Bold and the Beautiful, it’s a self-aware character. And yet, there was Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) laying himself bare – emotionally that is – to Quinn Fuller Forrester (Rena Sofer).
“How many weddings have I presided over?” he blubbered. “I mean, how many people have I walked into their future while I sit at home alone? I don’t want that! I want to be a husband in the worst way! I want a family!”
All that goes a long way in explaining (though not necessarily excusing) Carter’s waffling from one “love of his life” to the next and then back again…with a sly flirtation with Katie Logan (Heather Tom) on the side.
Personally, I blame Maya Avant (Karla Mosley). The ex-Mrs. Rick Forrester has got a lot to answer for.
Further B&B Musings
* Aside from Steffy Forrester Finnegan upping sticks – which was the perfect excuse to begin Jacqueline MacInnes Wood’s maternity leave – and Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis) begging her honey bear to kick his wife to the curb, this marked the second week in a row that The Bold and the Beautiful’s offerings felt disposable.
The majority of the episodes featured characters engaged in the same roundabout conversations – Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) wants Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) but Brooke wants Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye); Carter wants Quinn, but Quinn wants Eric; Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) can’t believe that he’s married to a Saint like Hope Logan Spencer (Annika Noelle); Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) is the root of all evil, and she’s the one who caused Brooke to drink on New Year’s Eve; yada, yada, yada.
* Soap Hub’s very own Hope Campbell has authored an article titled ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’s Taylor and Brooke Are STILL Vying For Ridge’ and it is a MUST read. It perfectly encapsulates my own feelings on this tired (oh so tired) triangle, why it should be permanently put to bed, and why Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) doesn’t deserve either Brooke or Taylor.
