The Young and the Restless viewers know that Jill Foster Abbott is no stranger to being an outsider in Genoa City, and she’ll stop at nothing to protect what’s hers. For her performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Jill’s portrayer, Jess Walton.
Jess Walton — Y&R Performer Of The Week
Jill returned to town for the big Chancellor Winters launch party, and Walton’s performance during that was brilliant. Jill gave an important speech, but perhaps the actress’s most shining moment during the event was a pointed moment when she warned that Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) should watch out for Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose). Her knowing and wry delivery made us remember that Jill has been there and done that plenty of times. Her tickled surprise at Diane Jenkin’s (Susan Walters) return from the dead hit a perfect note.
After the event, a curious Jill ran across Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Diane at Crimson Lights. We absolutely loved watching her facial expressions as she made comments to them, and her body language was spot on too.
Perhaps the best moments came after Jack left, and Jill basically called out Diane, and Jess Walton hit a perfect tone that rode the line between being mean and telling it like it is, which is Jill’s trademark. She even got her hands in on the action, which helped her strike some poses that let Diane know she wasn’t a threat but she didn’t quite buy the whole thing either. Bravo on an excellent performance, and here’s to many more.
