The Young and the Restless viewers know that Jack Abbott will do just about anything to help out his family. For his performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Jack’s portrayer, Peter Bergman.
Peter Bergman — Y&R Performer of the Week
Recently, it seemed that everything was coming up roses for Jack. After months of back and forth with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), they finally sealed the deal. Of course, it only happened after Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) returned to Genoa City, and it didn’t take too long for Jack to guess Phyllis’s game.
This week we truly felt Jack’s disgust when he realized that Phyllis engaged in PDA with him just to throw it in Diane’s face. Bergman hit just the right note portraying the bountiful emotions Jack went through, ending in a furious moment when he told off Phyllis after she tried to smooth things over.
We also loved seeing Jack’s more caring, fatherly side with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) as he worked hard to ease his son’s concerns about his fracturing relationship with Kyle’s mother-in-law. Bergman embodied the emotions through softened countenances and movements, showing just how much Jack cares for Kyle.
For a while, Jack has been desperate to have romance in his life, but it appears as if he’s not quite ready to be Phyllis’s revenge tool. We loved seeing Bergman get to show off his full range of acting after having the loving moments with Phyllis and then figuring out what she’d truly been up to. Peter Bergman played Jack perfectly as evidenced by the wide range of facial expressions and body language that truly telegraphed his complete outrage.
Bravo on a job well done!
