A Critic’s Review Of General Hospital: Spinning Wheels & Missing Beats

When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.

General Hospital: A Critic’s Week In Review

Another week, more spinning wheels, and not one General Hospital storyline anywhere close to reaching anything remotely resembling a climax.

Trina Robinson’s (Tabyana Ali) fate is still very much TBD. The latest beat in Sasha Gilmore Corbin’s (Sofia Mattsson) storyline should feel like a turning point, but I can’t help but feel further misery will be heaped upon this poor woman before it’s all said and done.

Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) plight turns out to be exactly what you, I, and anyone with but a modicum of knowledge about how this genre works thought it would. And of course, she’s hiding her malady from Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell). Who didn’t see that coming?

Rebecca Herbst appeared in two whole episodes this week – a major feat indeed for this undervalued and underappreciated General Hospital veteran – and said appearances did little more than give both ‘Fiz’ fans and detractors something to caw about, and to muddy the waters of exactly what is going on in Elizabeth Webber’s psyche.

Friday’s episode mostly consisted of the ‘B-team’ who makes up roughly the C and D stories. Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and Harrison Chase’s (Josh Swickard) attempt to one-up despicable Linc Brown (Dan Buran) is flat-out ridiculous, and Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) and Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) “meet cutes” or whatever General Hospital thinks they are just aren’t. Watching a man wear a woman down until she says yes isn’t appealing.

Also, I’m over Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson). O.V.E.R. over him. Who cares that he created a dating site? This is not the stuff of good soap opera.

And where, oh where is ‘Vanna’? Another storyline barely played from week to week – if it gets any airtime at all.

Further GH Musings

* What I would have given to hear/see Cameron Webber (William Lipton) explain to Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) that she wasn’t let in on Spencer Cassadine’s (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) con because she’s incapable of keeping her big mouth shut. The first time Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) would have smarted off to her, Josslyn would, without a doubt, have made some veiled reference to Spencer’s intentions. Sorry girl, but you just can’t be trusted.

Speaking of Esme, we all know that she’s not dead, right? And speaking of Josslyn, am I the only one getting the sneaking suspicion that she’s being chemistry tested opposite Evan Hofer’s Dex Heller?
