It’s the nature of the beast in television that great scenes that explore characters’ feelings are often the first ones cut for time in the editing process. General Hospital is no different, and recently, Tabyana Ali, who plays Trina Robinson, shared one of her favorites that never saw the light of day on the ABC soap.
Tabyana Ali Talks Sprina
It was during the General Hospital Fantasy Events Zoom with her GH co-star Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks) when the gals got the question from Autumn, a participant at the event, was there any storyline that was cut or came to an abrupt end that they wish hadn’t.
“There was a scene between Spencer [Nicholas Alexander Chavez] and I that was during court, and I literally, I was…’Oh my gosh!’ so excited to prepare it,” offers up Ali. “It was basically, if I’m remembering right, it was me kind of telling him, ‘You know what, you’ve done all this stuff to me, and I’ve had it up to here, and I’m done playing your games.’
“And you know, another one of her just getting it off her chest,” she continued. “The way he was looking at me with all the passion and love in the world, and then at the end of it, I was like, ‘I feel something, but I don’t want to have it’ — and they took it completely out.”
Needless to say, that caused a reaction in Autumn, who exclaimed, “Oh my God! I would have died. Oh my God, you cannot be serious.” We imagine she channeled the feelings of Sprina fans everywhere with her response. McCoy looked on incredulous and shared her surprise — it was a story even she didn’t know.
“I wish they didn’t leave it out,” admitted Tabyana Ali, “but I think…you know…I don’t know. It was a moment where I felt like it wasn’t necessary, though. After you really look at it and you really see everything, it wasn’t necessary.”
A wise McCoy added, “You’ll get it, though.” The show is obviously saving that moment for a later time, with possibly an even bigger build-up. No matter what, it’s obvious that Sprina fans have a lot to look forward to as they long for their favorites to one day share their feelings with each other — and Soap Hub is looking forward to that day too!
