Why The General Hospital Cassadines Need More Alexis, AKA ‘Natasha’

Last week on General Hospital brought a welcomed surprise when Victor Cassadine seemed to actually remember that he has a pretty useful half-sister in Port Charles — and called upon her to help him strategize about great nephew Spencer Cassadine, with his dad, Nikolas Cassadine. And as one can expect from Alexis Davis, she was the voice of common sense.

General Hospital: All In The Family

While born with the moniker Natasha Alexandra Mikkosovna Cassadine, a less assuming Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) has carved her own path away from her often-homicidal clan to be an upstanding (most of the time) citizen, lawyer, and now publisher, fighting for truth, justice, and the Port Charles way — but has often been known to fall back on her gene pool to get the job done.

It’s not unreasonable that she spent time in prison for attempting to kill Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth), even though she missed and hit Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), considering all the nefarious things she’s done and not had to pay any price — including causing a couple of deaths and trying to cause a few more.

So considering all of those interesting…quirks…of our dear Alexis, it’s been surprising not to see any of her family members lean on her a bit more during these troubled times. That’s why last week, when Victor (Charles Shaughnessy) schemed to get her to show up to a family meeting, was so fabulous for longtime viewers.

The Cassadines think big — they were on the climate change bandwagon long before anyone else, trying to freeze the world to combat global warming. OK, that might not have been their reason…world domination was…but this is no time to split hairs. Alexis is civic-minded, smart, and very capable of poking holes in their hair-brained schemes to keep them out of trouble. And considering how prone they are to getting into it big-time, she should be around more to help out.
