The Young and the Restless Favorite Bryton James Celebrates His Birthday

It’s been quite a year for The Young and the Restless’ Devon Hamilton, thanks to his relationship with Amanda Sinclair and the merger his company had with Chancellor. And good tidings are in store for actor Bryton James as well.

Happy Birthday, Bryton James

And that’s because he was born on August 17, 1986, in Lakewood, California, which means that this talented actor is turning 36 years old today! James began his show business career at the age of 2, thanks to roles in multiple commercials.

Between 1990 and 1997, James played Richie Crawford in the sitcom Family Matters – a part originated by twins Joseph and Julius Wright. James was a mere 4 years of age when he was selected to take over the character and he would subsequently make appearances in over 200 episodes.

Bryton James joined the cast of Y&R on June 1, 2004, and he has remained there ever since. For his efforts, the actor has won two Daytime Emmy Awards and two NAACP Awards.

His other credits include a guest spot in the sitcom Smart Guy (Bad Boy), a recurring role in the supernatural drama The Vampire Diaries (Luka Martin), and an appearance in the film The Intruders (Cory).

Since 1999, James has contributed his vocal talents to a number of animated television programs including The Kids from Room 402 (Freddie Fay), Zevo-3 (Jason James/Z-Strap), Hero Factory (Mark Surge), Winx Club (Roy), and Star Wars Rebels. He has “portrayed” the DC superhero Virgil Hawkins, AKA Static, in the series Young Justice since that program’s second season.

He was previously married to Ashley Leisinger from March 16, 2011 to 2014. James is the co-founder of the charity RADDKids (Recording Artist, Actors, and Athletes Against Drunk Driving).
