Days of our Lives Could Benefit By Reintroducing These MIA Hortons

Tom and Alice Horton. They once headed what was the preeminent family on Days of our Lives – and then their numbers began to dwindle. Old age, sudden catastrophe, and violent circumstances claimed a good portion of them…but many more simply chose to decamp to exotic locales or parts unknown – and we think that Salem could greatly benefit from the return of many of those errant family members.

The Days of our Lives Canvas Needs Hortons

Thomas “Tommy” Horton, Jr.
While it’s nice to see the new generation of Hortons being shepherded by a patriarch as loving and accepting as Doug Williams (Bill Hayes), wouldn’t it be nice to see an actual Horton – and one named Tom to boot – be the one to dole out the sage advice?

Marie Horton
She’s been there, done that, and she once donned a nun’s habit. This is the lady that the current crop of twenty-something Horton girls should be flocking to for advice. Marie’s a straight shooter, but she also possesses the same kind of warmth and wisdom honed by her parents – the late, great Tom and Alice.

Sandy Horton and Mike Horton
She’s Tommy’s daughter and Tom and Alice’s firstborn grandchild; he’s Bill and Laura Horton’s offspring, and Jennifer Horton Deveraux’s beloved big brother. Both of them are talented doctors, whose expertise would definitely be welcomed at University Hospital.

Melissa Horton
With Summer in late-stage renal failure and Sarah God-knows-where, Maggie Horton Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) could really benefit from having (adopted) daughter Melissa by her side. And we’re betting that Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) wouldn’t mind seeing his one-time fiancée in the flesh.

Nathan Horton
Melissa’s progeny, is, like many a Horton before him, a fully qualified doctor. He’s currently practicing at prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital, but who’d really complain about an influx of Tom Horton’s kin joining the staff at University Hospital? Well, probably Phillip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) – he and Nathan had a tendency to fall in love with the same lovely lady.

Jeremy Horton
Most Horton family members are good as gold; Jeremy…not so much. The last time he was onscreen, he was at the center of a cloth smuggling operation spearheaded by the DiMeras. Papa Mike wouldn’t approve in the slightest!

Steve Olson/Spencer Olson
These Horton adjacent relatives come courtesy of Addie Horton’s marriage to Ben Olson. Steve, a schemer extraordinaire, was their youngest child, making him Julie Olson Williams’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) baby brother; Spencer Olson is Steve’s son – mother unknown.

With Stefano DiMera no more than a memory, and age (and marriage to the saintly Maggie) precluding Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) from unleashing his true, evil potential, Steve could most certainly step into the breach and provide Salem the elder villain it’s been missing.

And as for Spencer, he could serve as EJ DiMera’s (Dan Feuerriegel) sparring partner/business rival and provide suitable company for many a single (or unhappily married) lady.
