There’s not much for Paulina Price to celebrate on Days of our Lives – she’s still persona non grata where her family is concerned. But luckily, the exact opposite is true of actress Jackée Harry, who’s got a very impressive milestone to fete.
Happy Birthday, Jackée Harry
And that’s because she was born on August 14, 1956, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, which means that this much-beloved performer is turning 65 years old today! Harry trained to be a teacher, and she worked at the Brooklyn Technical High School for two years before pursuing a career on the New Stage.
She made her Broadway debut in 1978 in a production of A Broadway Musical, and over the next several years, she appeared in numerous theatrical productions. Her first TV appearance was on NBC’s Another World, where she played Lily Manson opposite Linda Dano and Morgan Freeman.
In 1985, Harry scored the role for which she would become most known: 227’s vivacious, Sandra Clarke. During her tenure with the sitcom, Harry became the first, and so far only, African-American actress to win the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
Harry’s other acting credits include, Etta Mae Johnson on the Women of Brewster Place, Ruth “Co-Co” Royal on The Royal Family, Lisa Landry on Sister, Sister, and Vanessa on Everybody Hates Chris. She has been playing Paulina Price on Days of our Lives since March 2021.
Harry has one son, Frank, whom she adopted in 1997, with former husband Elgin Charles Williams.
