A Critic’s Review of General Hospital: What Fresh Hell Is Next?

When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.

General Hospital: A Critic’s Week In Review

Having trouble getting into the holiday spirit? Why not watch General Hospital where the simple act of festooning a Christmas tree devolves into a rumination of love and loss, and nothing screams festive cheer like watching a newborn being taken off life support.

Pithy condemnation aside, Johnny Wactor and Sofia Mattson are due ample praise for their stellar work; from start to finish, together, and apart, they have been a revelation. But now that Liam Michael has passed, I wonder what’s next for this dynamic twosome.

Will the loss bring them even closer together, or drive them apart? Will one, or both of them relapse into a drugs hell? Will Brando, as so many General Hospital fans suggest, step into the enforcer role (and black t-shirt) left vacant by Jason Morgan (Steve Burton)? Whatever the case, let’s hope these two remain on the front burner.

Further GH Musings

* Dear General Hospital writers, if your intent is to make me despise holier than thou Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), then you’ve succeeded.

* Exchange of the Week:

Anna: Peter’s on his way to the hospital.
Carly: Oh God. Please tell me he’s dying.

* Someone please remind me, exactly how old are Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) supposed to be? Because up until their admittedly adult, and slightly moving conversation on Friday, I was beginning to think that they were a pair of adolescents nursing their first crush.

The writing for this non-couple has been all over this place, and if my New Year’s wish comes true, then General Hospital will finally, FINALLY realize what a gem they have in Ms. Herbst and pen her a worthy story…whether or not Finn is included in said story makes me no never mind.
