Easton Rocket Sweda Speaks Out on Autism

“Hi, I’m Easton Rocket Sweda,” the young actor shared on both Instagram and Twitter. “And I’m Leo from General Hospital, the famous soap opera. Yesterday, he got diagnosed [with] autism. But you know what’s cool? I have autism, too. I was diagnosed when I was very young. I couldn’t speak till I was 4.

“Now, look at me,” the GH player continues. “I have a cool life…and kids with autism are cool. You have a good life, too, with autism.” Sweda concluded his video by saying, “Bye! Happy New Year!”

Lisa LoCicero and Wally Kurth Respond

Easton Rocket Sweda’s TV parents Lisa LoCicero (Olivia) and Wally Kurth (Ned) were among many who chimed in with supportive words. “Hey, Easton,” LoCicero posted. “We’re so lucky to have you on GH. And I’m so lucky to work with you. Happy New Year, my amazing ‘son.'”

“As a parent of a son with ASD [Autism Spectrum Disorder],” shared Kurth, “I always say ‘it’s a journey.’ Its unexpected twists and turns have made me a better father, a better man. I wouldn’t trade it.”

Kurth’s words touched social media follower @laurieannedon, who responded to Kurth and GH, “Thank you. The road definitely has detours but there’s always gold at the end of the rainbow. I’m proud to be an #autism parent! I appreciate this storyline @lisalocicerogh I cry often but I see that smile, the tears go away. I loved when Leo said he could spell…brilliant! #gh.”
