Weekly Spoilers/Recaps: December 20-24/27-31, 2021

The Young and the Restless

Chance and Abby approach the new year with a surprise from an old friend, Lauren may want to hit the bubbly well before the 31st, Chloe and Kevin make a resolution that they intend to keep (don’t we all!), and Billy and Lily take a step that just might ensure that their 2022 is as big a hot mess as their 2021 was.

Friday, December 24:

Nick’s loved ones send him a special message at Christmas, Cassie pays Nick a visit, and he makes New Year’s plans with Summer.

Sounds like a standalone episode to us! Nick’s family and friends help him make a list and check it twice. Will Phyllis’ ex, who has been out of sorts for months, finally realize what’s important and get back on track as he heads into the new year? Maybe a look back at what he’s overcome in the past will help him chart a course for the future.

Is Yellowstone’s Kayce headed for the ultimate heartache – and a whole new life?

Week of December 27:

Y&R Restless Rant! Hot topics include Billy playing a dangerous game, missed beats for Teriah, Devon’s custody move, not-so-jolly Saint Nick, plus, what worked and what didn’t in 2021!

Victoria learns what Billy’s up to, and Devon drops a bomb on Abby and Chance.

Monday, December 27:

When Adam and Chance settle unfinished business, we have a sneaking suspicion that it’s just going to open up a whole new can of worms. After all, does unfinished business ever really get finished in Genoa City?

Ooo, that Dynasty-caliber rivalry that Melissa Claire Egan recently teased appears to be kicking into high gear as Chelsea sends a message to Sally. ’Cause you just know that message ain’t “Help yourself to gingerbread cookies and Adam.”

We’re going to go out on a limb here and guess that when Nate helps Devon with a tough decision, it has to do with Abby and Chance. In fact, we’d even bet you our membership to the GCAC that it does. How can we be so sure? Answer in 3, 2…

Tuesday, December 28:

Devon surprises Abby and Chance. See? That’s why we were so sure. Question is, does Devon surprise the couple in a good way — as in, tricycles for all — or a bad one — as in, he’s decided that he wants custody of Baby Dominic?

Uh-oh. Something dicey must be afoot if Lauren sees no recourse but to take matters into her own hands. On the flip side, matters couldn’t be in better hands than the redheaded dynamo’s.

Billy, still under the impression that he can ever one-up Victor, has been scheming like he was on a deadline lately, putting on an Oscar-worthy performance as a guy who’s so down, he’ll never get up. But one person sees through this charade: Victoria, who isn’t shy about calling her ex’s bluff.

Wednesday, December 29:

When Victor and Nikki receive unexpected news from Ashland, it could be anything. Is their new son-in-law planning to give them another grandchild with Victoria? Has his prognosis gone once again from hopeful to hopeless? Has the Black Knight made him wish he had a cooler nickname than the Locke Ness Monster?

We think of Lily as being pretty levelheaded, so we have to suspect that her judgment is being clouded by love when she and Billy make a dangerous deal.

If Mariah and Tessa are sharing news with Sharon — and they are — it can only be about their decision regarding adding a new branch to the family tree. Hey, maybe a baby will wind up being named Bowie after all!

Thursday, December 30:

Take a deep breath, Chelsea, and just go for it. Since she’s making a confession to Adam, it’s gotta be that, despite almost marrying his brother and framing him for attempted murder, he is now and ever shall be The One for her.

What with the heartache of her split from Devon and the bumpy path she’s walked with Nate, Elena looks forward to a fresh start. Will the fates allow her to have it, though?

This oughta be good: Kevin and Chloe make a New Year’s resolution. Could it be to go a whole 12 months without one or both of them making a splash in hot water?

Friday, December 31:

Young & Restless will be pre-empted for CBS Sports coverage of the Sun Bowl.

Monday, December 27:

When Deacon attempts to diffuse a tense confrontation between Sheila and Brooke, will he prove to be up to the task? Something tells us he may need the martial-arts knowledge he’s acquired to defend himself!

With visions of happily ever after and, undoubtedly, a Forrester living room wedding dancing in his head, Zende takes possession of the engagement ring that he had Quinn design for Paris.

Tuesday, December 28:

When Zende lets Paris know he’s got something special planned for New Year’s Eve, will she guess that he’s about to propose and make her the newest member of the fabulous Forrester family? No more guesthouses or secondhand-apartment living for that girl, should she accept!

Trouble is absolutely afoot when Sheila formulates an evil plan to take down Brooke. Given that her loyalties may have shifted to Taylor following Doc’s generous offer to spend the holiday with the family, might the nefarious Ms. Carter target La Logan’s marriage to Ridge with her scheme? And if she did, would it really do any good?

Wednesday, December 29:

Sheila startles Taylor with an unannounced visit to her office. What? Taylor didn’t realize they’re besties now?!

And there it is, folks… Brooke unwittingly falls into Sheila’s trap while celebrating the holiday.

Thursday, December 30:

Carter receives a surprise from Paris after giving her a heads-up about Zende’s proposal. Will the Forrester foundation cutie stun the COO by explaining that she has developed feelings for him? If so, she’s about to burst poor Zende’s bubble before he can even pop the question!

In a vulnerable state, Brooke finds herself alone with Deacon, rehashing their affair. Will the trip down memory lane lead to the pair ringing in the new year with a… bang? Stranger things have happened in the life and times of La Logan.

Friday, December 31:

Bold & Beautiful is pre-empted for CBS coverage of the Sun Bowl.

Days of Our Lives

Many team up to save Marlena from the Devil, Nicole receives an unexpected visitor — as well as shocking news — and a plan to take over Titan and DiMera is put into place.

Week of December 27:

Days Soapbox: Will anyone even notice when MarDevil is gone? Plus, happily saying goodbye to Philip — for now — while pondering what’s next for his kidnapping brother.

Monday, December 27:

Pretty sure that when EJ imagined how he’d be spending Christmas, the last thing he anticipated was that he’d be behind bars. Yet that’s exactly the situation as he sits in lock-up, charged with having kidnapped Sami! (Ironically, it seems EJ is being held responsible for the one crime he hasn’t committed in recent years!)

While the rest of us are contemplating getting some exercise, John’s kicking off his latest exorcise routine by attempting to drive the devil out of Marlena!

How will Tripp and Allie react when they find out that Chanel and Johnny ran off and got married? (Something tells us Tripp will be a lot happier to hear this than will his girlfriend!)

Tuesday, December 28:

It looks like Marlena’s family has had about as much of the devil’s antics as they’re going to take. Look for John, Brady, Belle, Sami, Eric, Allie and Johnny to come together for sort of the ultimate intervention as they try to use the power of their love to drive the demon out of Marlena. Meanwhile, MarDevil decides to have a little fun at the expense of Sami and Lucas. (Here’s betting they don’t see it as a “good time.”)

While setting up for the annual holiday party at the hospital, Steve and Kayla find time to share a little romance.

Wednesday, December 29:

While Eric may have come to town to help deal with the whole “mom is possessed” thing, he’ll also visit Nicole while he’s in Salem. Because sure, that’s what she needs, yet another hot guy for whom she has complicated feelings coming around!

Much to Gwen’s displeasure, Xander seems to have a one-track mind these days… and that track leads directly to Sarah. Can she figure out a way to derail her beau’s determination to find his ex? Meanwhile, what Gwen doesn’t realize is that Xander is working hard to help heal her relationship with Jack. In fact, it’s because of Xander that Maggie agrees to try and play peacemaker!

Sami’s not one to spend a whole lot of time listening to what others say, but she does agree to hear EJ’s side of the story. Of course, there’s a world of difference between “listening” and actually accepting what one is told!

Thursday, December 30:

Nicole sort of thought that EJ was done with Sami, so she’s downright gobsmacked to find out that he wants to reunite with his ex.

Jake and Gabi have a pretty big plan, but they’re going to need help if they want to take over both Titan and DiMera. Will Shin be able to help them put the power in power couple?

What shocking piece of information is Chad about to stumble upon… and what will he do once he knows the truth? Meanwhile, it’s a day for discoveries, because Ava happens to be in the right place at the right time to overhear a bit of equally shocking info!

Friday, December 31:

As the clock ticks down on 2021, Sami is consoled by Gabi and then finds herself turning to Lucas. Meanwhile, it appears Marlena might be starting the new year demon-free as she is discharged from the hospital.

Allie apologizes to Chanel and Johnny for how she reacted to their news.

Ben and Ciara hope that maybe, just maybe, they can finally stop worrying about pesky things like the devil wanting their child and instead focus on their future as a happy family, as they look forward to the new year ahead...
