Many characters have come and gone over the years from General Hospital but one of the most missed is Julian Jerome. It was about a year ago that William deVry’s character had his fatal showdown with Sonny Corinthos.
William deVry Speaks Out on His GH Past and Potential Future
Recently, William deVry (ex-Julian) and Kin Shriner (Scotty) took part in a GH Fantasy Events chat with fans of the show. Naturally, deVry was asked about a future in daytime and if he’d be open to reprising Julian, taking on another role at GH, or if he’d be open to joining another daytime serial.
The actor wants fans to know if he’s spotted dining with GH executive producer Frank Valentini, it may not mean what people surmise. “Frank keeps ‘threatening’ to take me to dinner,” deVry told GH Fantasy Event attendees. “But I think that’s mostly as a ‘thank you’ for the last eight years. He certainly hasn’t brought up the potential of bringing me back.”
Never Say Never
That said, deVry says he’s open to listening to any ideas. “I’d be more interested in coming back short-term to clean up Julian,” the actor muses. As viewers recall, Julian was coerced into doing Cyrus Renault’s (Jeff Kober) bidding.
Like most actors who enjoy taking on new roles, deVry says he’s looking at future parts. “I know myself and I’m going to get passionate about doing something else,” he says. “What are some of the different shows I want to work on? You become an actor because you want to play.”
Other Acting Opportunities
The fan-favorite notes that technically, he wasn’t fired from GH. “My contract was up,” he points out. “It [was] time to move on and do other things.” All this said, deVry says he enjoys everything the soap world has to offer. “I love the fans. I love the peeps — Dom [Zamprogna, Dante], Maurice [Benard, Sonny], and Kin [Shriner, Scotty]. I’d love to go back and get in the dirt with those guys and do something fun…as far as another [GH] character goes, I’m not sure. If DAYS or Y&R called, I’d listen.”
