Annika Noelle reads the web and knows what fans suspect.
Brooke Logan is extremely vulnerable these days on The Bold and the Beautiful. So, her son-in-law, Liam Spencer, is offering supportive words. That’s a good thing, right? Annika Noelle, who plays Hope Logan Spencer, talked with Soap Hub about Hope’s current story and her TV mom’s history of making mistakes.
Annika Noelle: Eyes Wide Open
Soap fans are experts at seeing the groundwork being laid for certain storylines on their favorite soaps. So, when Liam (Scott Clifton) started acting as a sounding board to mother-in-law Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) over her marital woes, viewers speculated that something forbidden and romantic could develop between the two.
After all, Brooke has been known to lead with her heart, with no ill will. However, along the way, people have gotten hurt. (Remember when she accidentally had sex with Hope’s beau, Oliver, at her mask-themed graduation party, thinking he was Ridge?)
Rumor Has It
“I have seen the rumors swirling about,” Annika Noelle tells Soap Hub about Liam and Brooke. “I can’t blame people for maybe sensing that in the air because they have been spending a lot of time together. Hope’s been busy on her line, and Liam’s been looking after Brooke.”
Would the show really go there with Brooke and Liam? As an actress, Noelle would sink her teeth into the meaty drama. However, she’s protective of the characters and wouldn’t like to see them struggling.
“I would hope that Brooke has learned her lesson from the past,” Noelle muses. “I know [Brooke’s affair with Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan), who was married to Bridget Forrester] was one of the most devastating things that Brooke went through. I would hope that she’s learned her lesson, but you never know.”
Annika Noelle: A Kiss Is (Not Always) Just a Kiss
While Liam is supporting Brooke, Hope has been spending a good deal of time with Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson). She gently but firmly rebuffed a recent advance; it wasn’t surprising that Thomas made a move on his co-worker as he’d fantasized about that previously. Did Noelle know that that first kiss was a fantasy? The answer is yes. “The very next episode, Thomas says, ‘I have to stop fantasizing,'” Noelle points out.
The actress says that both she and Atkinson had questions when they read their scripts that contained the fantasy smooch. One reason folks might have thought it was real is that Hope is so forgiving. She’s supported Thomas despite his past actions.
“Hope’s ability to forgive is a strength, but it’s also a weakness,” Noelle points out. “It leaves her open to being a little naive at times. It’s an admirable quality, but it can blow up in her face and backfire.”
Still, Hope isn’t present when Thomas is coming up with ways to get closer to her, so this is hardly all her fault. “The audience has seen things that Hope hasn’t,” Noelle points out.
