The Y&R star takes on an animated role.
The Young and the Restless star Camryn Grimes is expanding her resume by dipping into the world of voice-over work. First up is a role in the animated Disney children’s series “Hamster & Gretel.” Her fiancé, Brock Powell, also voices a character in the children’s series. Soap Hub chatted with the engaged duo about working together.
Camryn Grimes Gets Animated
Camryn Grimes says co-star Bryton James (Devon Hamilton) encouraged her to get into the animated world as he himself has been a part of it in such projects as Young Justice and Super Friends. “I am just getting started,” Grimes says of working in animated series, but she’s definitely up for more as it’s not only a creative endeavor but also allows her to spend more time with fiancé Brock Powell, a voice actor.
Meet ‘Hamster & Gretel’
Grimes’s episode of “Hamster & Gretel” is titled “Grounded/Sleepover With The Enemy.” In it, Bailey and Gretel are excited to celebrate their anniversary of being best friends with a sleepover. However, a new girl threatens their friendship. When the new girl turns out to be a foreign spy, Gretel has to do more than save their friendship!
“I voice a very, very fun character [named] Tina, and I really hope people watch it,” Camryn Grimes tells Soap Hub. Powell, a regular on the show, sets up the series. “‘Hamster & Gretel’ is about [a girl named] Gretel and her brother Kevin,” Powell explains. “They discover that there are aliens that imbue people with superpowers. Somehow, Kevin gets left out [of getting powers]. Gretel and her pet hamster receive superpowers. Every week, they have to face a different villain or issue, and they learn something about being siblings and family. It’s ‘Batman ’66’ meets ‘Phineas and Ferb.'”
Camryn Grimes Makes Work a Family Affair
“It’s everything I would want in a Saturday morning cartoon,” Powell adds. “I worked on the show as [a character named] Lyle, who’s kind of like Biff from ‘Back to the Future.’ I’m most excited about working with Camryn on that, as well.”
Camryn Grimes and Brock Powell are also voicing characters in a holiday special, “Mickey Saves Christmas.” Check back with Soap Hub for details on that animated special soon!
