Days of our Lives Alumni James Scott Celebrates His Birthday

While Days of our Lives fans have a new EJ DiMera on the scene, his original portrayer, actor James Scott, is celebrating a major milestone.

Happy Birthday, James Scott

That’s because he was born on January 14, 1979, in Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne, which means that this talented performer is turning 43 years old today! A journey of self-discovery led Scott to relocate for a period of time to Scotland where he immersed himself in study at the famed Gilded Balloon Theatre.

A move to London precipitated his being scouted and signed by Storm Model Management. Work as a model allowed Scott the opportunity to further his studies, which he did at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

During a brief assignment to Los Angeles, Scott shadowed an acting class at the Ivana Chubbuck Studio in Hollywood, which spurred him on to save his money in order to make a permanent move to L.A.

More acting classes followed and in 2004 he finally received his first professional acting role — Ethan Cambias on the ABC daytime soap opera All My Children. Scott remained in the part until 2006.

In May of that same year, it was announced that Scott would join the cast of another soap — NBC’s Days of our Lives. He filmed his first scene on May 3 and debuted 27 days later.

Over the next eight years, Scott was front and center as villainous leading man EJ DiMera and his coupling with Alison Sweeney’s Sami Brady became a firm fan favorite. The part would eventually earn Scott two Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor.

In 2014, Scott announced that he was leaving DAYS in order to pursue other acting opportunities. Within a year, he had appeared in episodes of Private Eyes and Wrecked. Soap Hub would like to wish James Scott a very happy birthday and many more.
