WGA Awards Release Their Nominations In The Daytime Drama Category

The 2022 Writers Guild of Award nominations are out. The organization includes a Daytime Drama category. Last year, Days of our Lives, led by head writer Ron Carlivati, won the big honor.

DAYS, Y&R, and GH Compete for Best Daytime Drama

Along with last year’s victor, Days of our Lives, the writing teams of The Young and the Restless and General Hospital are also nominated this year for Daytime Drama at the Writers Guild of America Awards. The nominated writers were listed in a press release from the WGA.

What About The Bold and the Beautiful?

There’s a reason that The Bold and the Beautiful wasn’t nominated for best Daytime Drama. The show told some must-see storylines last year including the revelation that Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) is Finn’s (Tanner Novlan) mom and Quinn (Rena Sofer) and Carter’s (Lawrence Saint-Victor) affair. However, Soap Hub has learned that B&B chose not to submit entries into the competition this year.

Here Are The Daytime Drama Nominees

General Hospital, Head Writers: Chris Van Etten, Dan O’Connor Associate Head Writer: Anna T. Cascio Writers: Barbara Bloom, Suzanne Flynn, Charlotte Gibson, Lucky Gold, Kate Hall, Elizabeth Korte, Shannon Peace, David Rupel, Lisa Seidman, and Scott Sickles.

The Young and the Restless, Co-Head Writer: Amanda L. Beall Writers: Susan Banks, Jeff Beldner, Sara A. Bibel, Brent Boyd, Susan Dansby, Christopher Dunn, Sara Endsley, Janice Ferri Esser, Marin Gazzaniga, Lynn Martin, Natalie Minardi Slater, and Teresa Zimmerman.

Days of our Lives, Head Writer: Ron Carlivati Writers: Lorraine Broderick, Joanna Cohen, Carolyn Culliton, Richard Culliton, Jamey Giddens, David Kreizman, Rebecca McCarty, Ryan Quan, Dave Ryan, Katherine D. Schock, and Elizabeth Snyder.

Last year, DAYS won for scripts that dealt with the show’s much-publicized time jump in which the action in Salem picked up a year later. No word yet on if the ceremony will be virtual or in-person however, the award for Daytime Drama and other categories will be honored at the 2022 Writers Guild Awards ceremony on Sunday, March 20, 2022.
