Bill Hayes Officiates The Wedding Of His Grandson

“On January 16, we enjoyed participating in the intimate family wedding of our grandson David Samuel and the beautiful Amy Shpall,” Bill Hayes (Doug Williams) joyfully posted on Instagram. Check out the post below, which contains a slideshow of photos and videos of the big day. Hayes was able to officiate the marriage as he is now an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church. The blessed event took place at Tony Duquette’s famous Dawnridge Estate in Beverly Hills.

All The Days of Their Lives

There were about 20 guests, which included, of course, Hayes’ wife, Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie Williams). In addition to attending the emotional ceremony, guests were entertained by a magician, a fire dancer, a gospel choir, and a barbershop quartet! At the reception dinner, Hayes joined them in singing ‘Coney Island Baby.’

It was, Hayes says, “A thrilling occasion awash in love and music, perfect for David and Amy – and all of us, too! #DavidandAmy #BillandSusan #SecretsofSoapOperaLovers.” If any couple knows about romance, it’s certainly Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes. The couple met on the show in 1970 after Hayes joined the show and was soon paired with Seaforth Hayes’s Julie.

The couple wed in real-life in 1974 and Doug and Julie got hitched on the show in 1976 and again in 1980 after Doug got his divorce from Lee Dumonde. The couple wed a third time off-camera after Doug and Julie reunited in Europe in 1993.
