Y&R Spoilers Wild Speculation: Mac Returns to Romance Nick

Y&R spoilers hint that Nick Newman plans to focus on his family in the upcoming months. He learned plenty from his breakup with Phyllis Summers, which is why we’re not entirely sure we see a reignited romance growing between him and his other ex-wife Sharon Rosales. Instead, we could see Nick bonding with somebody brand new who has ties to Genoa City but who isn’t his ex — Mackenzie Browning.

Y&R Spoilers Wild Speculation: A Match Made in Genoa City

Actress Kelly Kruger most recently portrayed Mac during the storyline with J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) a few years ago. Mac and J.T. had divorced, and she was raising his children. She last showed up in Genoa City in January 2019, so it seems like she’s a prime suspect to return (perhaps after Kruger has her baby).

Because Mackenzie is Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) granddaughter, she has pretty strong ties to Genoa City. It’d be wonderful to see her return, and she’d be a viable romantic partner for Nick (Joshua Morrow) primarily because she’s not one of his exes. Also, tying together the Newmans and the Chancellors with another thread might be interesting too.

Sure, it might seem crazy, but we think it could work. Yes, the easy thing would be for Y&R spoilers to tease a reunion with Sharon (Sharon Case), but we’re not entirely convinced that aligns with Nick’s recent epiphanies about life.

In addition to the unexpected romance, Mackenzie’s return would bring some possible drama, too, given her connection to Nick’s sister, Victoria, through J.T., making the whole thing that much more viable.

Romantic Connection

We’d love to see Nick with a new romance, and it’d be great if his lady love had a good connection to others in Genoa City. Mackenzie returning would satisfy both those things. Plus, her children Dylan and Becca could be aged to provide something Y&R has been missing lately — a teen scene.

We think somebody like Mac, who once actually owned Crimson Lights, would provide Nick with a partner without all the baggage he has when he reunites with Phyllis or Sharon. Sure, maybe Sharon and Nick are end game, but it doesn’t seem as if he’s quite convinced, and honestly, neither is she.
