Chanel Dupree and Johnny DiMera had a whirlwind romance in Italy on Days of our Lives, which culminated with a spontaneous wedding. But then, in a common newlywed pitfall, Johnny was possessed by the Devil.

He publicly and brutally dumped Chanel (Raven Bowens), which prompted her to fall into his twin sister, Allie Horton’s (Lindsay Arnold), arms. Now they’re together, and a no longer occupied Johnny (Carson Boatman) is out in the cold. But does Chanel still hold a torch for her ex-husband?

Of course, she does, 77% of you admit, it was obvious in the way she spoke to Wendy Shin (Victoria Grace) about him. Chanel made it sound like all she was concerned about was Johnny’s happiness…as a friend, you know. But you heard a lot more. You heard a woman who still wasn’t over losing who she thought was the love of her life. And is only compensating with the person closest to him.

Chanel doesn’t want Johnny now, 14% predict, she is perfectly happy with Allie. But Chanel, more than anyone, knows that any relationship can go wrong at any time. And if you don’t want to risk ending up alone, it’s always good to have a fish on a string, even as you’re reeling in the one you’ve already caught. What we’re trying to say with our clumsy Ernest Hemingway metaphor is that Chanel needs a backup plan in case she and Allie go south.

Less than 9% of the audience believes Chanel’s claim that she’s just looking out for a friend. She doesn’t want Johnny, but she doesn’t want Wendy jerking him around, either. That’s Chanel’s job. And, hey, remember how much Chanel insisted she and Allie were just friends, until….well, you know.
