When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.
General Hospital: A Critic’s Week In Review
Aside from the equal parts thrilling — who doesn’t love an “I Know What You Did Last Summer” pastiche — and maddening — you mean to tell me that action man/Marine veteran Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) couldn’t disarm his assailant before they delivered that injurious blow? — “Who’s The Mad Hooker Of Port Charles?” arc, the storylines that I’m finding the most fascinating on General Hospital, the ones to which I most want answers, are ones that are clearly simmering on the back burner with no hopes of coming up to a boil anytime soon.
Just what is the oft alluded to, but never expounded upon, secret shared between Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) and Cody Bell (Josh Kelly)? Who was the family member that betrayed Selina Wu (Lydia Look)? What exactly is Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) so desperate to atone for? Is Rory Cabrera (Michael Kruse) really too good to be true? And, most pressing of all, why doesn’t General Hospital give dynamo Lexi Ainsworth the platform that she rightfully deserves?
Kristina Corinthos-Davis needs to be a presence in Port Charles and Ainsworth needs to be treated with some respect rather than being trotted out once a month of Sunday’s so that she can lend a scene the gravitas that it deserves. (I’m not still sniffling over those scenes of her reuniting with a back from the dead Sonny Corinthos; you’re still sniffling! I’m not still chilling from those blood-curdling screams she unleashed upon seeing Brando’s attack, you are!)
Further GH Musings
* Has Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) ever given any indication that she actually wants to reunite with Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner)? I mean, I know that we’ve seen her pine over the “what might have beens” from afar, but to my recollection, she has never once made a play for Curtis nor has she gone out of her way to threaten Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) or make her feel in any way uncomfortable. In point of fact, the exact opposite has been true.
So why, if that is indeed the case, were Portia and Curtis both so quick to think the worst of Jordan i.e., that she purposefully torpedoed her and Curtis’s divorce?
* Okay General Hospital, what was the point of Carly Corinthos’s (Laura Wright) run-in with Mrs. Reese’s Mother? I mean, I was delighted to see Linda Purl on my TV screen, but what was all that about?
* So, Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) loves Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) so much that rather than have her killed — if it ever came to that — he’d just snuff her himself…and with his bare hands no less? Husband of the year material I think not!
If I hadn’t already disembarked the ‘Nava’ train, that scene alone would have instigated the exit.
