The Young and the Restless viewers know that Nate Hastings is desperate to prove himself in the business world after switching careers from medicine. For his performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Nate’s portrayer, Sean Dominic.

Sean Dominic — Y&R Performer of the Week

This week, Nate seemed to go off the deep end after enduring weeks on end of Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) refusal to accept even one of his ideas. Dominic’s body language showed how Nate’s rage and frustration, which he’d barely kept under wraps for weeks, just emanated off of him in waves. Even without words, Nate clearly was about to blow.

Then, Sean Dominic also hit the perfect tone of voice to reveal his on-screen alter ego’s disdain for Devon at this point, and it was clear that he hadn’t fully forgiven his cousin for punching him. As the two got into an argument, the actor had Nate get in Devon’s face, as the two nearly came to blows over their argument.

Even Nate’s scenes with Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) showed his fury. Where he might usually be soft and gentle with Elena, he seemed hard and harsh, pushing back at her not only with his words but also with his rigid body language and sneering facial expressions.

Where Nate relented a bit was with Imani Benedict (temporarily Denise Boutte) when she provided him the support he felt that Elena didn’t give him. Even with her, though, he turned rigid and had a harsh tone of voice when she asked him to reconsider quitting.

Finally, Sean Dominic really hit his stride as a potential villain, complete with the perfect facial expressions filled with pride and assuredness, when he approached Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) with his downright evil scheme to hurt Chancellor-Winters and his family. Bravo on an excellent performance this week!
