Soap Hub Performer of the Week for B&B: Matthew Atkinson

Thomas Forrester is looking to have his son Douglas Forrester live with him on The Bold and the Beautiful. He’s chosen different tactics in the past to get what he wants but this time, he’s employing a steady, quiet charm. For his performance, Soap Hub is bestowing Performer of the Week honors to Matthew Atkinson on B&B.

Matthew Atkinson – Performer of the Week

Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) dropped by Hope Logan Spencer’s (Annika Noelle) home on the premise of needing information on Douglas’s (Django Ferri) back-to-school supplies but he also told Hope he wanted to see her and asked if she were alone. “I thought we could also talk…about us,” Thomas added.

Perhaps Hope couldn’t help but wonder if this was Thomas trying to open a door to their past romantic life. The couple dated years and years ago and then when Thomas was under mental duress, he manipulated Hope into marrying her using her feelings for Douglas as leverage.

“You knew I was talking about co-parenting?” Thomas queried Hope, who was acting just a tiny bit flustered (and maybe rejected?). The two calmly sat down and discussed what was best for Douglas. Hope feels the little boy needs stability and consistency. Thomas agrees — but he feels that he can provide that. “I don’t want to upset Douglas — or you,” Thomas said both simply and charmingly at the same time.

“Or you.” Hope can’t help but read into Thomas’s remarks. Does the handsome heir have feelings for her? This whole thing might be ‘easier’ if Hope didn’t believe that Thomas had changed. If she saw him as a threat to Douglas, her back would go up against the wall and she’d be calling her lawyer. She gently tried to point out that she truly believes it was best for Douglas to continue to live with her and Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) and Beth.

“Hope, you mean so much to me and I don’t want there to be any conflict,” Thomas gently but firmly replied. “I am confident that we can make this work for Douglas — and for us.” There, he did it again. “Us.”

We’re not quite sure whether Thomas truly has romantic feelings for Hope once again or if he’s sensing that she may be attracted to him and is taking advantage of that to get what he wants more than anything — custody of Douglas. Bravo to Matthew Atkinson for making Thomas complex as he also works at being the best father he can be.
