Soap Opera Comings And Goings: Villainess Returns & Hero Arrives

Who’s coming and who’s going from the casts of The Bold and the Beautiful (BB), Days of our Lives (DAYS), General Hospital (GH), and The Young and the Restless (YR)?

Soap Opera Casting For The Week of September 5, 2022

Here’s a list of the top exit and entrance news from all four daytime dramas. Find out if any of your favorite performers from yesteryear are returning to the shows you follow, or if any new actors or actresses have been cast in contract, recurring, or day-player roles.

General Hospital

Chloe Lanier is headed back to General Hospital as villainess Nelle Benson, Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos’s (Viron Weaver) biological mother and Nina Reeves’s (Cynthia Watros) late daughter. It’s a short-term gig on the soap opera that begins this week. Lanier played Nelle from 2016 to 2018 and 2019 to 2020. Her character presumably died after falling off a cliff in May of 2020.

Days of our Lives

Chandler Massey returns to Days of our Lives for another visit as Will Horton, although this time around, the circumstances are dire. Look for Will to arrive in Salem on Monday, September 5, to support a hospitalized Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker), who’s fighting for his life.

Jessica Serfaty pops in for a couple more appearances as Sloan Petersen, Leo Stark’s (Greg Rikaart) attorney. She’ll air on Monday, September 5, and Tuesday, September 6.

The Young and the Restless

Get ready for a surprise recast over at The Young and the Restless. Due to a scheduling conflict, Leigh-Ann Rose is temporarily out of the soap opera as Imani Benedict. Denise Boutte steps into the role beginning Tuesday, September 6, and will appear for a few episodes. The actress’ credits include roles on the primetime series The Family Business and Young Justice, as well as the mini-series Terror Lake Drive.

Paxton Mishkind premieres as Johnny Abbott, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) son, on Wednesday, September 8. The role was last played by twins Holden and Ryan Hare, who debuted back in 2012.

The Bold and the Beautiful

As the battle for young Douglas Forrester continues to heat up, Django Ferri gets more airtime on the soap opera. He’ll appear on Wednesday, September 7, and Thursday, September 8.

Also on the kids’ front, Sophia Paras McKinley airs as Kelly Spencer on Wednesday, September 7, and Thursday, September 8. Meanwhile, Iliana and Vienna Norris play Hayes Finnegan on Wednesday, September 7, Thursday, September 8, and Friday, September 9.

Naomi Matsuda is back as Dr. Li Finnegan. Look for Dr. John ‘Finn’ Finnegan’s (Tanner Novlan) mother to air on Friday, September 9.
