The next big crossover between The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless is coming. As Y&R viewers have seen, Nikki Newman has plans to visit LA-based Deacon Sharpe to get the dirt on Diane Jenkins. Kanan recently spoke about what it was like reconnecting with his former TV wife.
Sean Kanan Talks Deacon and Nikki
Kanan was a recent guest on Bold Live, B&B’s in-house YouTube talk show hosted by Casey Kasprzyk, the show’s supervising producer. A little over a decade ago, Kanan brought Deacon to Genoa City, where the character stirred up trouble — and the actor lived out a fantasy working with the top-rated soap’s heavyweights.
“I had said to myself before I went over to [Y&R] that if I get the chance to work with Eric [Braeden, Victor Newman] and Melody [Thomas Scott] that I had to take a minute and give myself a victory lap,” Kanan told Bold Live. “It was indeed working with two of the best in the business.”
Seems Like Old Times
Kanan says it’s a treat getting to work with Scott once more, and the two picked up right where they left off. “We went outside CBS and were rehearsing [our scenes],” Kanan recalls. “We fell back into this familiarity that we had when we were [first] working together.”
Kanan works regularly with Scott’s husband — Edward Scott — B&B’s supervising producer, but he says that he and his past and present co-star hadn’t seen each other once he left Y&R. “We brought something that wasn’t on the page to our scenes,” Kanan proudly shares. “That’s what we get paid to do.”
Sean Kanan Makes a Valid Point
A B&B devotee, who called into the show, pointed out that Deacon and Nikki’s relationship wasn’t the most healthy one. “Deacon is living with Sheila [Carter, Kimberlin Brown] right now,” Kanan points out with a mischievous grin. “I don’t think the guy has ever had a healthy relationship!”
