Soap Hub Performer of the Week for Y&R: Mark Grossman

The Young and the Restless viewers know that Adam Newman will do nearly anything to get revenge on the Newmans, but he seems to have turned over a new leaf. For his/her performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Adam’s portrayer, Mark Grossman.

Mark Grossman — Y&R Performer of the Week

Adam had a busy week in Genoa City, and his portrayer was at the top of his game. Grossman’s tone of voice, closed-off body language and facial expressions perfectly conveyed Adam’s feelings as he and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) clashed over Adam’s new job at Jabot. Clearly, Adam wasn’t all that intimidated by his dad. Grossman showed that his on-screen alter ego was simply over it all.

Then, Adam met up with Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters). The two shared a moment of bonding over being the town pariah. Mark Grossman ensured that viewers could tell Adam was not quite trusting toward Diane, but he did have a bit of a soft spot for her. He did that through his movements and his line delivery.

Mark Grossman also excelled in his scenes with Adam’s ex-wife, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan), and his ex-girlfriend Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) this week. He showed suitable concern for Chelsea’s erratic behavior but remained adamant in the tone of voice and expressions that she couldn’t take their son, Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) out of town for a while. While he was softened to her plight a bit, Grossman showed Adam’s desire to ensure Connor stayed in Genoa City. As for his interactions with Sally, we could see the regret and love on Adam’s face, courtesy of Grossman’s performance. Bravo!
