Soap Hub wishes the iconic actress a happy birthday and many more.
When taking into account the plethora of kidnappings, hostage crises, near-death experiences, and other life-threatening perils that have typified her time in Salem, life has been business as usual for Dr. Marlena Evans Black these past few months. And now, her real-world portrayer, actress Deidre Hall is about to celebrate a major milestone.
Happy Birthday, Deidre Hall
That’s because she was born on October 31, which means that this talented lady is celebrating her birthday today! Though she planned on pursuing a degree in psychiatry, Hall became “sidetracked” when she took a road trip from Palm Beach to Los Angeles and landed an agent who immediately booked her for a number of modeling shoots and roles in commercials.
Hall began her acting career in an episode of the NBC primetime drama San Francisco International Airport, and parts on other popular series — including Night Gallery, Adam-12, and The Streets of San Francisco — quickly followed.
In 1972, Hall scored the recurring role of Nurse Sally Lewis on the NBC procedural series Emergency and remained there for two seasons. A year later, she joined the inaugural cast of The Young and the Restless as Barbara Anderson.
For the next few years, Hall balanced her supporting role on the soap with appearances on other nighttime hits, including Kung Fu and S.W.A.T. After saying goodbye to Y&R, Hall (reluctantly) accepted an offer to appear on Days of our Lives.
She made her debut in June of 1976, playing Bayview psychiatrist Dr. Marlena Evans. That same year, Hall appeared in the 16-episode science fiction series Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, playing the title super-heroine.
Despite her hesitation at continuing on DAYS, Hall wound up staying with it for 11 years and only made the decision to leave so she could fully concentrate on her starring part in the NBC primetime family drama Our House.
After that show’s eventual cancellation, Hall returned to DAYS and remained front and center for over 18 years before a parting of ways with executive producers. However, the situation was remedied a few years later, and she made a triumphant return.
Soap Hub would like to wish Deidre Hall a very happy birthday.
