The Bold and the Beautiful Icon Susan Flannery Celebrates Her Birthday

It’s been some time since Susan Flannery graced the daytime airwaves with her presence, but the uber-talented actress, director, and producer remains busy. But not busy enough to ignore the special milestone that she is soon to celebrate.

Happy Birthday, Susan Flannery

And that’s because she was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on July 31, 1939, which means that this talented multi-hyphen is turning 83 years old today! Flannery began her career with a bit part in the police procedural Burke’s Law which was quickly followed by roles in Slattery’s People, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, and the feature film Guns of Diablo.

Between 1966 and 1975, Flannery starred on Days of our Lives as Dr. Laura Spencer Horton, a character who found herself at the center of one of the longest-running secrets ever kept on a soap: Who fathered her son? Husband Mickey believed that he had, but in truth, his brother Bill was the natural parent.

Though a major player on the daytime serial, Flannery continued to pursue outside opportunities including a plum role in the disaster picture The Towering Inferno – a project that netted her a Golden Globe award for “New Star of the Year: Actress.”

After deciding to retire from DAYS – due in large part to the expansion from a half-hour program to a full one-hour – Flannery continued to act in a variety of film and TV projects.

She had a recurring role in Dallas, a starring part in the NBC mini-series The Money-changers, and she appeared in a plethora of made-for-TV films, including Anatomy of a Seduction and Money on the Side.

In 1987, Flannery agreed to join the inaugural cast of William J. Bell’s newest effort The Bold and the Beautiful. She remained in the part of Stephanie Forrester for 25 years and earned herself three Daytime Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Lead Actress category.

Soap Hub would like to wish Susan Flannery a very happy birthday and many more. The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Los Angeles, check out all the latest that’s been posted on B&B spoilers.

General Hospital Comings And Goings: Missing Daughter Resurfaces

Who’s coming and who’s going from General Hospital (GH)? Are any of your favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the not-too-far-off future?

General Hospital C&G News

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring, or day player roles? Are any well-remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join the General Hospital fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the ABC soap.

The week of August 1, 2022

Lexi Ainsworth is finally back on the canvas as Kristina Corinthos-Davis, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), and Sonny Corinthos’s (Maurice Benard) daughter. She’ll interact with her TV dad.

Food Network star Jamika Pessoa is heading to Port Charles. The celebrity chef appears as herself on Friday, August 5.

Nathanyael Grey has been playing Austin Gatlin-Holt’s (Roger Howarth) cousin, Mason. The character turned up randomly, insisting that Austin return to Pautuck.

General Hospital History

GH made its debut in 1963 and is the longest-running soap opera currently on the air. From legendary Laura’s (Genie Francis) four decades on and off and back on as the show’s leading heroine, to Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) exploits, to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH certainly knows how to please their viewers.

A Critic’s Review Of The Young and the Restless: Allergy To Drama

When it comes to The Young and the Restless, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of Y&R’s week that was.

The Young and the Restless: A Critic’s Week In Review

I have to say, I was very impressed that The Young and the Restless managed to subvert the expectations I had going into this week.

When last we left Genoa City, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) had bid Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) enter her abode, despite knowing better, and he’d begun ranting and raving about how there was only one way their story could end, and I just knew that we were in for a repeat of the JT Helstrom (Thad Luckinbill) buried in a park storyline.

But nope. Though the stories are a bit similar, they are, in fact, different. For this, I am truly grateful. I don’t think I could have handled watching Victoria and Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) digging Ashland a shallow grave, throwing him inside it, and making an I Know What You Did Last Summer-style promise never to broach the subject again.

As it stands, I’m interested in how exactly Nicholas moves forward seeing as how he knows, deep down inside, that he did in fact kill Ashland and that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) staged that car accident.

It could make for juicy character exploration…or it could be deftly swept under a rug. This is The Young and the Restless after all; the soap that seems to have an allergy to any real dramatic happenings.

Further Y&R Musings

* After watching Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) most recent interactions with Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), I’m cautiously optimistic that he isn’t as dumb as Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) and I have been crediting him.

* How invested should I be in Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) plight considering how little investment The Young and the Restless seems to be putting into the storyline?

* I apparently have yet to fully fathom Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) plan, because if the whole point of this is secure Sally Spectra’s (Courtney Hope) employment at Newman Media, why didn’t he just break down and admit that after she made clear her intention to resign her position in protest?

* If the Abbott family, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) in particular, are so concerned about how Harrison (Kellen Enriquez) will be affected by Ashland’s loss, then perhaps they shouldn’t have engineered that estrangement between the boy and his “father.”

The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Genoa City, check out all the latest that’s been posted on Y&R spoilers, and for an in-depth look at the show’s history, click here.

A Critic’s Review Of The Bold and the Beautiful: A Whole Lot Of Truth

When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.

The Bold and the Beautiful: A Critic’s Week In Review

There sure was a whole lot of truth being spoken on this week’s Bold and the Beautiful, from John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) admonishing Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) for, “Always blaming others for what you set in motion,” to Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) pointedly wondering to Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen), “Why the Hell does [Ridge] get to make all the rules…He is married to Brooke…why does he get to dictate who you see?” I’d particularly like an answer to that latter question.

I’d also like to why, if world-renowned psychiatrist Taylor is so worried that her and Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) suddenly turning up might impede Steffy Forrester Finnegan’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) progress, are she and Ridge making the trip to Monaco in the first place – especially when Steffy’s doctor flat out told them she didn’t think it was a good idea. Oh, that’s right! Ridge doesn’t think anybody’s opinion but his matters, and he made up his mind that seeing her parents was exactly what Steffy needed.

Further B&B Musings

* I must admit that I was pleased to see The Bold and the Beautiful proceed at such a clipped pace…if only there had been B and C storylines to take the place of some of the more reiterative dialogue.

* I suspect that wee Kelly is going to grow up with a very skewed concept of death.

* Man, no one involved in the filming of Friday’s episode made much effort to conceal the fact the woman that Finn happened upon wasn’t Steffy, huh? Couldn’t they have at least made sure to dress the actress in the same unsuitable-for-strolling outfit that MacInnes Wood wore?

* Poor, poor Mike Guthrie (Ken Hanes). He finally gets the kiss, but he doesn’t get the girl…just a jail sentence.

* Things That Made Me Go, “Huh?” – How is it that Li Finnegan (Naomi Matsuda) couldn’t remember the name/address of the hotel she stashed Finn? Why is it that neither Li nor Finn thought to mention to Bill that Sheila had a partner-in-crime? For that matter, why didn’t Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) clue in Deputy Chief Baker (Dan Martin)

A Critic’s Review Of General Hospital: Lack Of Self-Awareness & Spiraling

When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.

General Hospital: A Critic’s Week In Review

Both my favorite and my least favorite moment from this week’s General Hospital came courtesy of Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy). I was thrilled when she wondered if both her mother and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) were idiots for having thrown their support behind Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), and I also guffawed at the whole exchange considering that Josslyn never had a problem with Sonny’s lifestyle so long as it benefited her. Like Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and Michael Morgan (Chad Duell), Josslyn is a character without an ounce of self-awareness.

Further GH Musings

* And Sasha Gilmore’s (Sofia Mattsson) downward spiral continues, and my capacity to care spirals with it.

* How many more near exposures can we expect re: Michael and Dex Heller’s (Evan Hofer) secret partnership? I’m already tired of them.

* I would be remiss if I didn’t praise the acting talents of Maura West and Nicholas Alexander Chavez. These two delivered but how this past week.

* I’m just going to go out on a limb here and assume that the story Ryan Chamberlin (Jon Lindstrom) told Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) is hogwash.

* Once again Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) buys a barefaced lie all because the liar is someone that she’s desperate to believe in. The General Hospital writers should be ashamed over how dirty they’re doing this fan favorite. Wasn’t Anna tarnished enough during Peter August’s reign of stupid?

* So, is General Hospital just dropping the whole “West Coast Foe” plot point?

A Critic’s Review Of Days of our Lives: Romance Fails And Daft Plotting

When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.

Days of our Lives: A Critic’s Week In Review

I can’t help but feel that I’d mourn Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) and his and Ava Vitali’s (Tamara Braun) thwarted coupling if a) I wasn’t so keenly aware of the fact that this is Days of our Lives, the soap where such a thing as death has no meaning and b) the majority of JaVa’s courtship hadn’t played out off-screen and then suddenly escalated to an engagement over the course of two episodes.

I also find myself unable to fully invest in Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) and Allie Horton’s (Lindsay Arnold) reignited romance. Maybe it’s because Allie is clearly in need of maturation – I mean, what grown woman, and a mother to boot, gets into a public food fight with her brother? – or maybe it has something to do with my failure to appreciate that everyone involved – Chanel, Allie, and Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) – viewed the whole exercise as a contest.

What I also fail to appreciate is the blatant homophobia spewed forth by many in numerous comments sections and social media forums. I can understand disliking the pairing on principal, and I do subscribe to a “too each their own” philosophy, but perhaps moving forward you’ll see fit to refrain from calling them “freaks” and “abominations” and likewise.

Further DAYS Musings

* I would love to know, exactly, when Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) got back in touch with Marcus Hunter and learned of the existence of Jada (Elia Cantu). Was it during the sixteen years that he was a presumed dead amnesiac living as either a programmed drone or a hospital orderly named Nick?

I suppose it could have been during the few years he and Kayla Brady Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) were living together outside of Salem, but wouldn’t Kayla have at least known about Jada? It seems their meeting in the town square was the first Kayla knew of her existence. Or maybe he broke cover during his time working undercover for the ISA to go and catch up with his pal?

I’d implore the writers at Days of our Lives to do their homework, but then they’d have to stop doing daft things like referring to the DiMera manse as, “the house that Stefano built.” For the record, the abode is the former residence of Shane Donovan and co.

* Given that Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) and Adrienne Johnson Kiriakis (Judi Evans) were the only parents that Alexander Neil Kiriakis II (Robert Scott Wilson) ever knew, what’s up with his referring to Adrienne as, “Sonny’s mom?” Again, this is where a little research would go a long way.

* How tactful of Kayla to merely say that she’d, “Always loved,” Marcus and not get into the whole Marcus caught real feelings for her but she was sniffing around her sister’s reject and couldn’t return the sentiment, so he tucked tail and left Salem.

Soap Hub Performer of the Week for Y&R: Courtney Hope

The Young and the Restless viewers know that Sally Spectra will do whatever it takes to succeed both personally and professionally. She’s cutthroat in business, but she nearly gave it all up for love this week. For her moving performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Sally’s portrayer, Courtney Hope.

Courtney Hope — Y&R Performer of the Week

Hope truly made us feel Sally’s utter destruction at Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) betrayal. He broke up with her, and when she overheard him tell Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) the real reason, we nearly jumped for joy when she barged right out there to read him for filth.

We appreciated the actress’s firm, decisive body language, and powerful line delivery. It was so much more than mere dialogue that gave the convincing performance. Even her hair movements and facial expressions told the story. Then, when Adam doubled down on everything, we literally saw Sally deflate, which Courtney Hope portrayed perfectly.

Later, when she went into Adam’s hotel room, we loved the subtle nuances that Hope gave as she remembered Sally’s past growing up. She brought a real depth giving her character a haunted look in her eyes as she remembered what it was like growing up without having a place to fit in or a person who loved her most. Hope hit those notes perfectly with her body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice. We truly felt Sally’s pain through the strong performance.

Then, finally, as she listened to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and later Chloe Mitchell Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson), we loved seeing Sally’s spine straighten both literally and figuratively as Courtney Hope showed us her on-screen alter ego gathering her wits about her to fight another day. Bravo on a stellar performance. Congratulations!

Soap Hub Performer of the Week for GH: Maura West

We weren’t sure how long it would take for the secret of Nikolas Cassadine and Esme Prince’s one-time affair to come to light on General Hospital. However, we felt certain that once Ava Jerome learned of her husband’s infidelity that, her portrayer, Maura West, would deliver a powerful performance. For her stunning portrayal of a wife betrayed, Soap Hub bestows Performer of the Week honors upon West.

Maura West – Performer of the Week

If Nikolas (Marcus Coloma) was hoping that his wife would give him points for confessing his fling with Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl), he was sadly mistaken. The more Nik explained what happened with his son’s girlfriend, the more incensed Ava became. After Esme lit the fuse outside the courtroom, Ava and Nikolas found a private room where the fireworks exploded.

Even before Nikolas confessed his affair, Ava had grown very suspicious. Once Nik came clean, Maura West made the choice for Ava to close her eyes for a brief moment and then, she opened them, glaring at Nikolas, ready to blast him for his betrayal. “Stop talking!” Ava commanded as she proceeded to ask Nik how often he was sleeping with Esme. After he said it was just once, Ava coldly quipped, “How noble and restrained of you.”

Maura West knows how to shift her tone and demeanor for heartfelt and vulnerable to angry and accusatory in a heartbeat. Nikolas tried to thrust the blame onto Esme and while Ava knows that Esme is manipulative, she sarcastically shot back, “Poor you. Seduced by a high school graduate!” Tears in her eyes, smudged mascara, there was no mistaking that Ava was truly, deeply hurt by Nikolas’s betrayal — but the main emotion West had her character convey was unbridled anger. “I thought I married a man — you are no man,” Ava informed Nikolas before informing him that she was going to burn him to the ground!

Ava didn’t waste any time after tracking down Esme, who was packing to leave town. Ava called the seductress a ‘lying little whore.’ The writers armed both characters with information to make this showdown raw and heated — that kind of showdowns that make soaps great. And let’s not forget to give major props to Avery Kristen Pohl’s Esme. Watching her and Maura West go back and forth with one another is like watching a great tennis match — it only works if both players know how to hit the ball.

Ava was briefly stunned when Esme threw up in her face her ‘hate sex’ with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) that led to the conception of Avery — all while she was also sleeping with Sonny’s son Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig). Ava gave Esme props for being so conniving but hastened to point out that she’s demented and psychotic, accusing her of framing Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) along with seducing Nikolas.

Esme shot back that Ava’s treatment of Nikolas set him up to fall and she was only too happy to catch him once he took a tumble. She also pointed out that Ava walked out on Julian Jerome (William deVry) in his final days. Rather than have Ava crumble over this painful reminder, Maura West played a realization that was afforded her character by the show’s writers; Ava realized that Esme has to be more than her stepson’s psycho girlfriend — she must have a personal reason for going after her as she knows all these personal details.

Esme tried to throw Ava’s focus back onto her cheating husband, which only confirmed to Ava that she was on the right path. “Oh, my,” Ava said just before the show cut to another storyline. “I seemed to have pushed a button. Let’s see if I can push a few more.”

Maura West gives scene-ending tags like nobody else. When the action returned to these two, Ava put the issue of Esme’s fling with Nikolas aside; she informed the vixen that she was going to go to the courthouse and exonerate Trina. Not surprisingly, Esme balked at that suggestion. Next, West reminded viewers of the Ava who murdered Connie Falconeri (Kelly Sullivan) in cold blood and got away with it. “Oh, darling girl,” Ava softly said. “You misunderstand me. If you don’t admit that you framed Trina, I will make sure that nobody ever finds you — at least not while you’re still breathing.”

Kudos to West for delivering such dynamic work. These two episodes should be considered for her Daytime Emmy reel next year. The actress has three ‘Golden Girls’ and may very well have earned her fourth with this particular series of performances.

Honorable Mention: In addition to West and Pohl, we have to give props to the always-terrific Eden McCoy. Last week, we saw her character, Josslyn Jacks, go up against her stepfather Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). McCoy continues to show that the apple doesn’t fall far from the daytime tree as she more and more reminds us of TV mom Laura Wright (Carly). And kudos to Carolyn Hennesy who, as Diane Miller, gave a Camille Vasquez-worthy performance in court as she handled Trina’s defense. Maura West’s Ava wasn’t the only one who went after the bad seed last week. Diane did her best to rip Ms. Prince to shreds on the witness stand.

Soap Hub Performer Of The Week For DAYS: Tamara Braun

It’s rare for a soap to have one actor appear in five straight episodes, but DAYS knew that powerhouse Tamara Braun – the latest recipient of Soap Hub’s Performer of the Week kudos – could shoulder the burden.

Tamara Braun – Performer of the Week

From the get-go, Braun had her work cut out for her. Early emotions she was called to portray included concern (for the pain being endured by her alter ego’s significant other), bemusement (at the haughty ramblings of her and Jake’s unwanted houseguest), bewilderment (again, courtesy of Kristen “Overstaying Her Welcome” DiMera), and just plain irritation – and all of that took place in a single scene!

Then came Ava’s internal battle with the green-eyed monster, a byproduct of Jake having wondered aloud if he should warn his ex-girlfriend that trouble in the form of Kristen might be headed her way.

Braun paced the bedroom set, fists clenching, eyes firmly shut, mouth repeating the same phrase over and over again – “Don’t be an idiot!” It would have been funny if we weren’t keenly aware of what tends to happen when Ava gets overly jealous.

Jake managed to soothe the beast within Ava, and he even got her to vocalize a previously mute realization – “I think I’m falling for you…I didn’t plan it, but there it is.”

Surprise, surprise – or maybe not at all – that’s exactly how Jake felt about Ava, except he didn’t think that he’d fallen for her, he knew that he’d fallen for her; and he wanted to make it known just how far he’d fallen by putting a ring on Ava’s finger.

But fate would not be kind to the lovers. A gunman with nothing left to lose fired a bullet into Jake when he refused to follow a few simple demands, and the prognosis by all accounts was bleak.

At the hospital, a disillusioned, devastated Ava collapsed into a chair took in the sight of her bloodstained hands. When a Good Samaritan came to check on her, Braun was at once hostile and then, having allowed her character to recognize the spirit in which she had been approached, she softened.

No doubt Tamara Braun’s shining moment came during Ava’s farewell exchange with Jake’s spirit. She was alternatively harsh and dulcet, reproving and resolute. It was a performance that won’t soon be forgotten.

Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Salem, check out all the latest that’s been posted on DAYS spoilers, and for an in-depth look at the show’s history, click here.

Soap Hub Performer of the Week for B&B: Naomi Matsuda

It’s totally understandable that Dr. Li Finnegan would shut down given her recent ordeals — whisking away her son from a hospital, battling Sheila Carter, and surviving a fiery car wreck. For her performance as a woman who came back from all of this, Soap Hub bestows Performer of the Week for B&B honors upon Li’s portrayer, Naomi Matsuda.

Naomi Matsuda – Performer of the Week

Viewers were hopeful that Dr. John ‘Finn’ Finnegan wasn’t the only doctor who’d manage to cheat death on B&B. But after Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) came upon a nearly catatonic Li, it was clear that the good doctor needed some care given recent traumatic events.

Bill reached out to his pal Dr. Jordan Armstrong (Vincent Irizarry) to tend to Li’s medical needs. While Jordan made note of Li’s cuts and abrasions, it was clear from Matsuda’s performance that Li’s confrontations with Sheila were the bigger issue.

Timing is everything in storytelling. If Li were fully present, she would have blurted out that Finn‘s (Tanner Novlan) alive and that he’s in Sheila’s (Kimberlin Brown) clutches. As Bill had never met Li, he wasn’t privy to her true identity. Fortunately, Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) was and he immediately identified the woman as his ex-wife Steffy Forrester Finnegan’s mother-in-law!

Seeing Liam helped bring Li out of her confused state. She flash-backed to recent events and her first words spoken were “Sheila…Sheila! Sheila!!” In what we can only describe as the “Beth Beth is alive” (thanks, Douglas!) line in this storyline, Li announced that Finn wasn’t dead! Li agonizingly recounted to Liam and Bill her decision to take Finn, who was on death’s door, away from everyone and later, how Sheila discovered the whole thing.

Bill brought Li back to Finn; Li’s joyfully held her son in her arms once again while managing to shoot Sheila a stare filled with fury. Later, Bill and Finn took off, which, alas, left Li vulnerable to being attacked by Mike Guthrie (Ken Hanes) from behind. In doing so, Mike may very well have saved Sheila’s life. Li’s death glares (which should be made into a social media meme) to Sheila convey a very strong and determined woman — a mother clearly motivated to do whatever she can for her son. Kudos to Naomi Matsuda for taking Li from being traumatized victim to her son’s champion!

Honorable Mention: It was great seeing Ken Hanes back for this arc. Mike’s devotion to Sheila was a mainstay back in the 1990s and Hanes walked back into his role as if no time had passed. And Mike’s reaction to getting a kiss of gratitude was priceless!

Weekly Soap Spoilers: August 1-5, 2022

The Young and the Restless

Victor has his hands full dealing with not one but two of his offspring, Diane opens up to someone not-so-unexpected, two high-level executives butt heads, a pair of lovebirds find themselves in a debate, and Abby’s husband uncovers something seriously disturbing before later being caught in a compromising position!

Friday, July 29:

Adam changes his plans, Nick makes an admission, and Kyle gives Harrison awful news.

Nick finds himself dealing with an ethical dilemma. Wisely, it’s Nikki to whom he turns for help, not Victor, who might kinda sorta be lacking in that particular department.

Kyle doesn’t have a huge amount of experience in the dad department, but he does his best to protect Harrison when it becomes necessary. Could the danger in which we feared he was putting his son be coming to pass already?

Mariah is keeping a secret from Tessa, which doesn’t sound like the kind of thing a newly-wed woman should be doing. Maybe it’s all for the best? In any case, we can’t wait to get the 411!

Week of August 1:

Y&R Restless Rant! Cover up: Victor’s role in Ashland’s death — Plus, Phyllis takes a huge risk to best Diane, Sally’s new love triangle, MIA characters and more.

Monday, August 1:

Pass the popcorn, please! Phyllis gives Jack a reality check. Regardless of what particular bee he has in his bonnet this time, we can’t wait to hear what Red’s two cents will be. You know she’ll set her ex-husband straight!

Aw, such a good wifey: Mariah supports Tessa during her recuperation. Fingers and toes crossed that our favorite singer’s voice comes out of this ordeal stronger than ever.

We can’t say that we didn’t see this coming after their ever-so-polite “disagreement” regarding the launch: A power struggle ensues between Devon and Nate. Will the cousins be able to come to an understanding, or is there big trouble ahead for Chancellor-Winters?!?

Tuesday, August 2:

At this point, we’re positive that Adam is taking these conversations with a grain of salt, but nonetheless, Victor puts the family black sheep on notice once again. Rhetorical question: What more can Pop threaten him with?

Jeez, shouldn’t these two kids be out doing something fun as young people do? Are there no bowling alleys in Genoa City? Is there no miniature golf? Instead of hanging out and having a good time, Noah and Allie debate family matters… which is bound to happen, we suppose, when an Abbott is dating a Newman.

Eep. If there is indeed a cover-up happening in Ashland’s death, we’ve got bad news for the culprit: Chance and Kevin uncover disturbing evidence.

Wednesday, August 3:

As she has so many times in the past, Phyllis takes a big risk. Will this particular gamble pay off, or will it come back to bite her in the behind?!?

Sally gives Nick the third degree. La Spectra may soon be giving the handsome Newman a whole lot more than that if our prediction about a hot new love triangle proves to be on point!

We have a feeling that this will only be temporary, but good for her! Amanda keeps the peace between Devon and Nate… for now.

Thursday, August 4:

It seems Victor has a full-time job keeping his sons in line this week as, on the heels of dealing with Adam, the Mustache finds reason to dole out an ultimatum to Nick. Theoretically, that would make Victoria and Abby next in line to be put on blast, right?

Here we go! Diane opens up to Jack, who we all know will fall hook, line and sinker for her schtick… and eventually right into his wily ex’s waiting arms! Just another reason we have two words to say to Phyllis. (Read them here.)

This was bound to be a bumpy ride: Ashley second-guesses her alliance with Nikki and Phyllis. Will she drop out of the game or decide she’s in it to win the prize? Which, of course, is a one-way ticket out of town for Diane.

Friday, August 5:

Calling all “Shick” fans! Your pairing will inevitably grow closer when Nick shares a secret with Sharon.

Billy walks a road well-traveled when he comforts Victoria. The question is, will he be walking it alone when Lily gets wind of what he’s been up to?

Are we about to get some dishy drama… or is this teaser work-related? We’ll have to tune in to find out as Abby catches Chance in a compromising position.

The Bold and the Beautiful

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before, but it sure looks like it’s the end of the line for Sheila. The murderous madwoman seeks safe harbor while Finn makes tracks to reunite with Steffy overseas. In other developments, a photo shared to social media leads to Instadrama as Ridge falls back into old habits. And by “old habits,” we obviously mean “Taylor’s arms.”

Friday, July 29:

Bill makes a shocking phone call, Liam and Hope share exciting news, and Finn is tearfully reunited with Hayes and Kelly as Steffy continues to mourn.

Ooo… Dollar Bill delivers an unexpected and exceptional gift to an extraordinary person. This has to be Katie right? But what do you get the girl who has everything — including a new heart and kidney?

Overlooking a beautiful vista in the south of France, Steffy is overcome with emotion remembering Finn. Don’t jump, lovely one, your prince is very much alive and is (hopefully) on his way!

Week of August 1:

Monday, August 1:

Oh snap! Sheila muscles her way into Deacon’s place with a crazy story and a desperate request. After his recent conversations with both Hope and Taylor, we know the reformed con will want no part of his deranged former friend crashing in his broom closet. Will Deacon turn in the madwoman… or turn the tables and deal with her in another, more sinister way?

Finn, Ridge and Taylor search for Steffy in the beautiful principality of Monte Carlo. There can’t be that many grief-treatment centers in the area that allow children and nannies on site, so we’re hoping for a joyous reunion sooner rather than later! Of course, what comes next is likely to tick off more than a few viewers…

Tuesday, August 2:

It’s crunch time in the janitor’s den as Deacon is forced to make a split decision that may very well change his life. Will he become the hero his daughter has always wanted her dad to be or prove Ridge correct in saying he’ll never change by helping public enemy No. 1, aka Sheila?!?

Speaking of the madwoman, um, what’s going to happen after the boom is lowered on her? See, this is why we’re so concerned about a problem the show shares with Young & Restless. Read all about it here.

Break out the tissues! There won’t be a dry eye in the house as the fates and stars align allowing Steffy and Finn to find their way back into each other’s arms.

Wednesday, August 3:

In the romantic locale of Monte Carlo, Steffy and Finn celebrate their miracle and share a joyous family reunion. Time for us to add a new chapter to our photo-filled retelling of their love story.

In a happy moment, Hope takes, then posts a photo of her parents that quickly goes viral. If your first thought wasn’t, “Oh no, Ridge’s head is going to explode!” then you don’t know the dressmaker. This could definitely inspire a knee-jerk reaction overseas, especially considering Brooke’s husband just happens to be with Taylor!

Thursday, August 4:

For the above-mentioned reasons, Brooke becomes alarmed about Hope’s picture on social media. Given that Deacon and his charms have been banned by Ridge, will La Logan posing with her ex while her husband is away finally put the kibosh on “destiny”?

Uh-oh. Things just got more complicated, folks: Caught up in a euphoric moment, Taylor and Ridge share a kiss. Why, why, why will she never lays out all of the times that he’s repeatedly proven that he’s just not that into her?

Friday, August 5:

This oughta be good! After Brooke rejects his presence, Deacon explains his theory about her, Ridge and Taylor to Hope. Our only question is, should we make popcorn or get a tablet to take notes?

Despite her joy at being reunited with the love of her life, Steffy shifts her attention away from Finn just long enough to call out Taylor and Ridge about their new vibe since being in Monte Carlo. Will her dreams of getting her parents back together finally come to fruition?!?

General Hospital

Perhaps it’s the summer heat that’s causing people to act out in Port Charles. Whatever the case, Nina and Sasha have a heated encounter, Dante ponders his entire future, Nikolas tries to stave off trouble, and Trina’s trial is going so poorly that Diane makes a desperate move!

Week of July 25:

Monday, July 25:

Boz is rushed to the hospital after he’s discovered by Curtis, Valentin continues to deceive Anna, and Joss threatens to have Sonny arrested.

The clock is definitely ticking, and everything could ride on whether or not Esme agrees to take Spencer up on the deal he wants to strike. Meanwhile, Ava is definitely caught off guard by Nikolas!

Jordan wants to know exactly why Curtis is doing what he’s doing.

As she heads back into the courtroom, Trina gets the support she definitely needs.

Apparently forgetting that Josslyn is her mother’s daughter, Carly tries talking her out of doing something.

Preview: “What’s coming up will be mind-blowing,” teases Laura Wright — and we all know that even losing her beloved hotel will not keep Carly down!

Love means never having to say you’re sorry… but Sonny and Nina might find themselves wanting to apologize after laying it all on the line and discussing some tough truths.

Tuesday, July 26:

Nikolas gives Esme what she’s been wanting, Spencer makes a demand, Joss suggests her mom is an idiot, and Nina opens up about her fears with Sonny.

Time is running out and the walls are closing in on Trina. Will Spencer be able to convince Esme that she should take him up on his offer? Meanwhile, as Carly tries to change her daughter’s mind, Trina tries to draw strength from those in her corner as the trial resumes.

When Nikolas surprises Ava, how will she respond?

Jordan can’t help but wonder exactly what’s motivating Curtis.

Will Sonny and Nina be able to talk through the bump in the road their relationship has encountered?

Wednesday, July 27:

Ryan admits to Esme he doesn’t know her mother’s real name, but has never stopped looking for her. Spencer’s testimony gives Diane an opening and Victor learns Nikolas slept with Esme.

Trina thought she was prepared for anything, but she’s taken aback when an unexpected witness is called to the stand. At the same time, Jordan — realizing that time is of the essence — heads to Wyndemere in the hope of helping Trina. As for Esme, she turns to perhaps the one person she hopes will be able to help: Ryan!

Cody tries — and fails miserably — to charm Britt. Can Maxie help him turn things around?

Thursday, July 28:

Ava vows to burn Nikolas’ world down after learning he slept with Esme, Spencer offers Diane a way to help clear Trina, and Michael informs Dex how they’ll bring down Sonny.

Nikolas is desperate to keep a secret from coming to light, but he may be fighting a losing cause. Meanwhile, as a new witness takes to the stand at Trina’s trial, Diane realizes she may have been presented with exactly the opening she needs!

Michael and Willow are slowly sharing their good news, but they’re surprised to find out that at least one person is already in the know!

Dex makes it clear he wants a larger role in Sonny’s organization.

Off a conversation with Mac, Dante just may consider making changes in both his work and personal lives.

Friday, July 29:

Spencer’s alibi for Trina may not be enough to exonerate her, Ava realizes there is more to Esme’s hate for her than just Spencer, and Brando explodes at Sasha for refusing to go to therapy.

Sonny isn’t quite sold on the idea of Dex being brought deeper into the organization, so he asks Brick to find out if this is a good idea.

Spencer’s decision could have major consequences, even as Esme is preparing to get out of Port Charles.

Sasha and Willow are there for one another… at least until things get tense. Meanwhile, when Brando discovers Michael and Dex together, he suggests that perhaps they should all go and have a chat with Sonny.

A blast from his past! General Hospital’s latest recruit leaves Cameron Mathison asking: “What are you doing here?”

Week of August 1:

Monday, August 1:

This is a day you won’t want to miss as Trina takes the stand in her own defense. Meanwhile, the showdown between Ava and Esme explodes even as Nikolas approaches his son.

Finn heads to the hospital so that he can check on Elizabeth on her first official day back. But something very unexpected is about to happen!

An increasingly nervous Willow has questions for TJ as they await the results of her latest tests. Will they finally figure out exactly what’s really going on with her? Meanwhile, Sam happens to be approaching Michael just as he’s making a rather mysterious phone call.

Even after all this time, Mac’s still got it… and when someone at the Metro Court pool notices, Felicia isn’t likely to be thrilled!

Tuesday August 2:

Now that Willow has a better idea about her condition, she sits down for a talk with Britt and Terry about what comes next.

Curtis is willing to do what it takes to get new information. Meanwhile, Trina’s freedom hangs in the balance, prompting Diane to make what might be a last-ditch effort to clear the young woman’s name.

Something pops up from the recesses of Elizabeth’s memories. Will it help shed light on what’s been going on with her?

What’s got Nikolas in a desperate race against time to get to Spoon Island?

Wednesday, August 3:

Sasha’s an emotional mess when she happens to cross paths with Nina at the Metro Court gardens. Meanwhile, Brando hopes that Sonny might be able to offer him some helpful words of advice.

Cameron gets an instant recap on what’s been going on with Trina’s trial.

Jordan has a few questions for someone who’s been brought to the station.

Thursday, August 4:

Having no clue as to the truth about Dex, Sonny says he has an assignment for his newest employee.

Dante is making big decisions about his future, including on the work front. What will come of his conversation with Jordan on that very topic?

Carly knows her daughter well enough to see that something’s eating at her. Will Josslyn confide in her mom?

Things spiral out of control at the Metro Court. How bad do things get? Bad enough that the police are summoned to the scene!

Friday, August 5:

Sasha’s becoming a real liability for Deception, prompting Maxie, Brook Lynn and Lucy to take a meeting regarding the latest Face of Deception news.

Gregory and Alexis made a “friendly” bet with one another, and today they’ll get together to determine who came out on top!

As Dante runs into Chase at the pool, Sam takes a meeting with Spinelli to ask for his help with a case.

Things are definitely not going well for Cody and Britt. In fact, when he tries talking with her, it quickly becomes obvious that she’s not particularly thrilled to see him!

Days of Our Lives

Rolf works his dark magic at Kristen’s behest, a shocking connection between two locals is revealed, Sarah and Xander take on a new challenge, and Rafe is given new reason to worry about his marriage!

Week of August 1:

Monday, August 1:

Where’s Maury Povich when you need him? Both Shawn and Evan are on pins and needles as they await the results of the paternity test. Who really fathered Jan’s baby? (Anybody else have a weird feeling that there just might be a third babydaddy option?)

Abigail’s death continues to haunt the DiMera family. Can Chad help young Thomas deal with his mom’s passing?

First, Orpheus suggested perhaps he should join Clyde in the kitchen at the Brady Pub. Then, he not-so-subtly threatened Steve’s kids. Now, he’s swinging by Marlena’s to ask her a favor. I mean, you have to say this: The guy’s got cajones! (Which is probably why, in related news, Steve goes to John and says they have to deal with the Orpheus issue, pronto!)

Tuesday, August 2:

When people in Salem need answers dragged out of their foggy memories, there’s only one person to see. That’s why Sarah winds up visiting Marlena in the hope of finding out what really happened the night Abigail died! While Sarah’s off trying to get help, Gwen hopes that perhaps she can make a little progress with Xander. (Yeah, good luck with that, girl!)

Gabi probably shouldn’t be surprised by the demands Ava makes, but she is.

Is it medicine? Magic? A combination of both? Who knows, but Kristen watches anxiously from the sidelines as Dr. Rolf tries to do his thing!

Wednesday, August 3:

We imagine it takes a lot to shock Kristen, who has cooked up more outrageous schemes than we have pasta dinners. Yet when she finds out what Rolf is up to, she’s completely stunned!

Despite everything that has gone down between them, when Shawn needs help, it’s Belle to whom he turns. Meanwhile, Evan is in for a pretty big shock…

Get ready for a battle of the poker faces when EJ tries to call Ava’s bluff!

Thursday, August 4:

Following Sarah’s session with Marlena, Xander and his true love are left with more questions than answers. Chief amongst them Who really killed Abigail?

Will Nicole find herself squirming as Paulina questions her about Eric? (And if that makes Nicole uncomfortable, imagine how she’ll feel when Jada asks Eric out on a date!)

With Chad spiraling thanks to his grief, Sonny is there for his dear friend.

Friday, August 5:

Leo and Gwen may be besties, but that doesn’t mean either really trusts the other. When he tries getting her to answer a few questions, will she be forthcoming or find a way to dodge?

Xander and Sarah put on their detective hats and set out to find clues that might finally prove who did away with Chad’s wife!

Sure, he tried to kill her while possessed by the devil. But that was then, this is now. So why shouldn’t Johnny try and get Paulina to help him? And if she’s reluctant, well, perhaps a little arm-twisting will help…

Maggie is about to see something she won’t soon forget at the mansion!

Xander and Sarah put on their detective hats and set out to find clues that might finally prove who did away with Chad’s wife!

Week of August 8:

Monday, August 8:

Kristen desperately needs Rolf’s plan to work in order for her to achieve her goals. The mad genius assures her that nothing will go awry. (Admit it, don’t you wish you had a Rolf of your own on call?)

Tuesday, August 9:

In Salem, nothing is what it seems and no character is an island. So it should come as no surprise that Rolf has a hidden connection to someone on the canvas. What might prove surprising is that the person is Li!

Wednesday, August 10:

Usually, when Sarah and Xander go undercover it’s so they can spend a little sexy time together. But today, they’ll be doing so in an effort to get the goods on his former lover, Gwen!

Thursday, August 11:

One never knows what will come out of the mouth of babes, or so they say. Thankfully, Chad is listening to what son Thomas has to say, because it might just offer a clue to the identity of Abigail’s murderer!

Friday, August 12:

It’s tough to imagine a more bizarre Scooby gang, but Clyde, Nancy, Brady and Chloe form one in order to put the final pieces of a puzzle together.

Rafe can’t help but notice that his wife is more than a little preoccupied with Jada and Eric’s date! Should he be worried that Nicole’s not as over her ex as she claims? (Don’t worry… that’s a rhetorical question!)

Days of our Lives Favorite Martha Madison Celebrates Her Birthday

There is not a lot for Days of our Lives, Belle Black Brady, to celebrate, considering she’s pretty much blown up her marriage by sleeping with EJ DiMera. Luckily, the same isn’t true for actress Martha Madison.

Happy Birthday, Martha Madison!

And that’s because she was born on July 27, 1977, in Newport News, Virginia, which means that this talented performer is turning 45 years old today! Upon graduating from Texas A&M University with a degree in psychology, Madison relocated to New York City and enrolled in the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.

After obtaining a small part in the film Kate & Leopold, she moved to Los Angeles in order to pursue an acting career in earnest. Roles in Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Passions soon followed, and in August of 2004, Madison joined the cast of Days of our Lives and assumed the part of Belle Black.

Madison remained at the NBC soap until March 24, 2008, though she has been reprising the character — on an “as-needed basis” — since November 25, 2015. Subsequently, the gorgeous star appeared in episodes of The Singles Table, Without a Trace, Criminal Minds, and General Hospital (where she briefly subbed for actress Rebecca Herbst in the role of Elizabeth Webber, R.N.).

Madison’s other acting credits include guest spots in One Mississippi, Great News, and A Place Called Hollywood, as well as starring roles in The Bay, Winterthorne, and Ladies of the Lake. She was in the film To The Beat! and To The Beat!: Back 2 School.

Madison has been married to restaurateur A.J. Gilbert since August 25, 2007. Together the couple shares a daughter, Charley Elizabeth (born November 3, 2013). She previously hosted an afternoon, soap-centric talk show with former GH star Lilly Melgar.

Soap Hub would like to wish Martha Madison a very happy birthday and you can too by clicking the Twitter link below. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes. Do You Want to See Bill Fall Romantically for Li on Bold and the Beautiful?

The Bold and the Beautiful threw two surprising twists at viewers recently. Not only is Dr. Li Finnegan alive and well but she’s been discovered by publishing magnate Bill Spencer! For a time, Bill was keeping Li’s whereabouts a secret as he didn’t even know who she was. But all of that’s changed now that’s to Liam Spencer!

The Bold and the Beautiful – Bill and Li

Might Bill, who’s currently unattached, develop feelings for his new friend? Soap Hub asked B&B viewers if they’d like to see Bill (Don Diamont) and Li (Naomi Matsuda) become romantically involved or not.

Bold & Beautiful: Everyone Deserves Love

The majority of you, over 51%, say that yes, you’d like to see Bill fall for Li. Bill’s likely not getting back together with Katie Logan (Heather Tom). She can’t get past the fact that Bill will always have feelings for Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang). If Bill can keep those feelings in check, he can more likely have a successful relationship. Li’s heart has been broken by her cheating husband Jack Finnegan (Ted King). She’s vulnerable, and Bill could be just the man to help mend her broken heart.

Bold and the Beautiful – Go Slowly

Many of you, about 24%, are in favor of a Bill/Li romance. But you think that Bill needs to take things slowly. First, he needs to make sure she gets medical attention and regains all her faculties. The woman has been clearly traumatized! Second, he needs to make sure that he and Katie are truly finished and that Li isn’t going to get back together with Jack. Otherwise, they could each be looking at heartache!

Bold & The Beautiful: Never Say Never

There’s still a faction of fans out there, approximately 21%, who want Bill to make it work out with Katie. They share a son, and they have a long history. If Bill could convince Katie that he’ll never act on his attraction to Brooke, they might have a chance.

B&B’s Brill

The rest of you, almost 4%, say that you’d like to see Bill forgo any potential relationship with Li and forget about reuniting with Katie. You want him to go after the woman he is always going to love truly, madly, deeply — Brooke!

The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Los Angeles, check out all the latest that’s been posted on B&B spoilers, and for an in-depth look at the show’s history, click here.

Why Joss Is Being a Huge General Hospital Hypocrite About Sonny

Did you know that Sonny Corinthos was a criminal on General Hospital? Did you know that he does illegal things and even, gulp, hurts people? Poor, innocent Josslyn Jacks had no idea! She thought her stepfather was an innocent coffee importer…who kept being arrested and put on trial because, well, the good people of Port Charles were just jealous of his success, obviously.

General Hospital: As the Worm Turns

But then, Sonny (Maurice Benard) cheated on Joss’s (Eden McCoy) mother. He deliberately got amnesia, and then he deliberately fell for another woman, and then he deliberately made it so that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) married Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), which caused the end of their marriage, and now Joss is shocked, shocked — just shocked, we tell you! — to learn that Sonny does illegal things.

GH: Out To Get You

But, don’t worry, fair fellow citizens, Joss is here to protect truth, justice, and the American Way. While only a few months ago, Joss was furious with boyfriend Cameron Webber (William Lipton) for so much as thinking that hitman Jason (Steve Burton) might have murdered Cam’s stepfather, she now has a recording of Sonny beating up a man, and she is taking it straight to the police! Criminality like this must not be allowed to stand!

General Hospital: Emotional Support

And it’s not just Joss who is oozing hypocrisy these days. Her big brother, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), is also shocked to hear that their family was involved in organized crime. (This after he was in a coma and missed his entire adolescence due to being shot in the head during crossfire.)

Now that Sonny doesn’t worship Carly anymore, her children cannot believe how awful the man is and will stop at nothing to see him punished. Until, that is, the next time they need him to fix a problem for them. And then it will be all is forgiven…again.

General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Port Charles, check out all the latest that’s been posted on GH spoilers, and for an in-depth look at the show’s history, click here.

Young and the Restless Alum Alyvia Alyn Lind Celebrates Her Birthday

It’s been a while since Alyvia Alyn Lind has played Faith Newman on The Young and the Restless, as she now is appearing with a killer doll in the series Chucky. But that’s not all she has going on that’s worth celebrating.

Happy Birthday, Alyvia Alyn Lind

And that’s because she was born on July 27, 2007, in North Carolina, which means that this talented young actress is turning 15 years old today! Lind landed her The Young and the Restless role of Faith in 2011 when she was a mere 3 years old.

Two years later, she made her feature film debut in the science fiction horror thriller Dark Skies (opposite Keri Russell and Josh Hamilton). Between 2012 and 2015, Lind had a recurring role on the ABC serial Revenge as young Amanda Clarke (a role played by actress Emily VanCamp).

Lind has twice portrayed a young Dolly Parton. First in the 2015 NBC special Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors and again in the 2016 sequel film Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love.

She is the youngest daughter of Barbara Alyn Woods (an actress known for her roles in One Tree Hill, Eden, and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids) and director/producer John Lind. Both of Lind’s sisters — Natalie Alyn and Emily Alyn — are actresses.

Soap Hub would like to wish Alyvia Alyn Lind a very happy birthday and you can too by clicking on the Twitter link below. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
