Life’s a bit complicated for Days of our Lives’ Lucas Horton — especially considering the fact he fell off the wagon and thought he killed his poor niece. Luckily, for performer Bryan Dattilo, his reality is a bit more festive…especially considering the fact that he has a major milestone to celebrate.
Happy Birthday, Bryan Dattilo
And that’s because he was born on July 29, 1971, in Kankakee, Illinois, which means that this fan-favorite actor is turning 51 years old today! Dattilo began taking acting classes at the age of 9, and, soon after, he landed his first professional job: a recurring role in the HBO satirical sketch series Not Necessarily the News.
Guest appearances in series like Charles in Charge and Crazy Like a Fox followed, but Dattilo’s career as a thespian was briefly put on hold in order for him to attend, and graduate from, Santa Monica College — where he earned a degree in psychology.
He joined the cast of Days of our Lives in 1993 and made his debut on the soap on April 15 of that year. Dattilo’s character, Lucas Roberts, was initially brought onto the soap in order to bolster the “teen scene,” though he was subsequently revealed to be a member of the Hortons, the show’s legacy family.
The actor remained on contract with the soap until February 2001. He eventually reprised the character for a brief stint in February 2002 and he returned for another lengthy stay which lasted between September 2002 and February 2010. Dattilo continued working on the soap on a recurring basis beginning in February of 2012 but was put back on contract for a while with the return of Alison Sweeney’s Sami Brady, who has since departed again…a few times.
The actor has been married to Elizabeth Cameron since July 12, 2011. Together the couple has a daughter Delilah (born in 2014). Dattilo is also the father of Gabriel Bryan (born December 16, 1999), a son he shares with his first wife Jessica Denay and he has made Dattilo a grandfather.
