A Critic’s Review of Days of our Lives: Signed, Sealed, Delivered & Denied

When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.

Days of our Lives: A Critic’s Week In Review

My goodness. Days of our Lives certainly delivered when it came to Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) and Lani Price Grant’s (Sal Stowers) exits. And sure, it wasn’t perfect. Like Abe Carver (James Reynolds) and Paulina Price Carver’s (Jackée Harry) wedding before it, the goodbyes were rushed as all get out. But in a mere two episodes, DAYS managed to elicit a wealth of emotion and prove the opinion that family is what you make of it. Bravo!

Further DAYS Musings

* Color me all kinds of confused. Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) has turned herself in on the ‘mothership’ and yet those of us who have watched the trailer for Beyond Salem 2 know that she’ll soon be a free woman out there in the world stirring up trouble and looking exactly like her old self again. What gives? Is this proof that my theory concerning the existence of two Kristens (one played by Stacy Haiduk and the other by Eileen Davidson) might hold water?

* I get that the ‘dramatic money shot’ was the look on Eric Brady’s (Greg Vaughan) face when he learned that Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) and Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) were husband and wife, but I can’t help but feel robbed.

I’ve mentioned many times in this column that I’ve had a hard time investing in Rafe and Nicole as a couple, and the denial of an onscreen wedding hasn’t helped matters. As far as I can see, the Days of our Lives scribes are just bidding their time and creating additional obstacles for the inevitable reunion between Eric and Nicole. Once again, Rafe will be the odd man out.

* I’m frequently accused by my readers of being too hard on Belle Brady (Martha Madison), but I see no reason for changing my low opinion of the character. In the same breath that she admits what happened to her husband was a violation, she seductively teases her lover that she’ll soon be ready to tryst with him for a second time.

If there’s any justice in this world, when the dust settles, Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) will kick Belle out on her patootie and then EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) will show her the door so that he can reunite her sister, the true love of his life. Cheaters of any sort should never prosper.
